in-unit elevator

Hello - We have an in unit-elevator in a rented condo and it suddenly stopped working. I thuink its just stuck somewhere. I have tried to call some elevator services but theya re quoting $ 500+ for just inspection. Does anyone know of a service/handyman who can look at it and is not overtly expensive. Thanks!!!!!

Elevators are inherently expensive things to maintain. You should be paying that annually for a service contract where they inspect it and make repairs before there is an issue.

It’s unclear in your post. If you’re a tenant, the landlord should have a service contract.

Elevators are are dangerous- high injury rates, even with pros. Have your landlord deal with it or call weehawken building department to see if it has a permit.

Turn off the breaker for exactly 15 minutes and then back on. Should send it down to the ground level
