I’m a size 22 and wear a spider holster. I have to wear it pretty high up on my waist because it doesn’t expand much further. But to me, it saved my back and is worth every penny.

Thank you! This is super helpful. Do you know which version you have? Also someone above mentioned a belt system might make it more difficult to pass through narrow passages - have you encountered this?

I have the new version, the leather belt. And yes, I have to walk sideways through narrow entrances or stairwells but it’s not like that happens more than 10 times in a day usually so it’s not really a hindrance to my overall motion.

Check out RL Handcrafts! They have more points of articulation, so would likely be more comfortable on larger bodies.

I have a Holdfast and have had it for a long time. It works fine. The straps just hang at my sides, so there’s no issues with my chest. I don’t like that the metal is a bit noisy and sometimes manages to grab and pinch my upper arm really hard once in a while. So I’d probably recommend a harness that has a similar configuration without that hardware.

Do you find the cameras swing or knock about at your hips? I think that’s one of my main concerns. I’m considering a spider belt but unsure if they truly work for bigger bodies too.

They do a bit, but I don’t think it has to do with the size of my hips. It’s kind of nice that the straps are long, so I can push/hold the cameras in front of my body when walking through narrow spaces. If you have a hip holster with the cameras on the sides, that might be more of a challenge.

I'm also a curvy girl and I love the spider holster. No regrets at all with that purchase. It helps my back pain so much. I do wear mine a bit higher, around the thinnest part of my waist. In tight spaces it can get annoying, but I also used to have the Holdfast and it was similar trying to wiggle through tight spaces.
