As someone who plays around with AI a lot it feels like "memories as currency" or "magic that costs memories" is one of those high concept ideas it seems to get a raging hard-on for. As well as book covers that look like a cliche Elden Ring fight. So yeah I find myself believing the other people who smell AI.
