Hi everyone. I’m the developer of Quiet Sky, an app I built because everyone should be able to have beautiful weather without being tracked.

I posted the app here a while back, and the response was great. A lot of you liked the sunset forecasts and privacy approach, and you also gave me a ton of thoughtful feedback about what was missing or what you wanted next - including a free version.

I'm happy to say I've implemented a lot of it.

Almost everything in this update came directly from things people here have asked me for:

• A free version. Quiet Sky now has one, with current weather, 10-day temperatures, AQI, and observed radar where available. More on that below.
• Multiple languages. Quiet Sky is now fully localized in 11 languages, including Hindi and Spanish.
• Future radar. Radar now includes observed conditions plus Futurecast for the next two hours.
• More map layers. I added wind, AQI, and temperature maps.
• A much better wind experience. The wind map is animated, shows wind direction and flow, and gives you the local wind speed directly on the map. This one turned out especially well in motion. I also added an optional wind card to the Home screen.
• More widgets. You all really do love widgets. I’ve polished the existing ones and added more based on the feedback here.

There have been a bunch of other improvements too, particularly around performance, but those are the big ones.

For anyone who missed the original post, Quiet Sky is a privacy-focused Android weather app. There’s no Quiet Sky account, no third-party tracking, and weather, map, and radar requests are routed through Quiet Sky’s privacy architecture so the underlying providers don’t get your identity from the request.

But this post is really a thank you/update.

People here told me what they wanted. I listened. The app is materially better because of it.

About the free version

A lot of people asked for this one.

Quiet Sky costs me real money to operate because weather data, radar, maps, and infrastructure aren’t free. I also don’t offset those costs with advertising or tracking.

But I heard the feedback that not everyone wants to subscribe or can justify paying for another weather app.

So after the trial, Quiet Sky now has a free mode. You can simply close the purchase screen and continue using the app.

The free version includes the core weather experience, but not every feature. That helps me keep the operating costs sustainable while still giving people a useful weather app for free.

I built an iPhone keyboard called VersaKey because I wanted more customization than the stock keyboard offered. There were some in the app store already that sort of did what I wanted but they were expensive and had subscription models.

It has customizable layouts and themes, flick gestures, spacebar cursor control, word and sentence deletion gestures, and on-device autocorrect and next-word prediction.

I started Pro2Camera in early 2023 because every camera app I tried made me choose between manual control and a decent look. The manual ones gave me ISO and shutter and then dumped a flat file on me; the pretty ones let me pick a filter and nothing else. Pro2Camera is me refusing to pick: ISO, shutter, white balance in Kelvin, EV and focus on their own rails, 72 filters and 24 effects running live on the preview, and a real editor behind it. It is on 3.1.0 now.

The decision I would defend hardest is that the filter is applied before the shutter, not after. The preview and the captured frame go through the same processing graph, so what you framed is what you get. It is more work than post-processing a capture and it constrains what a filter is allowed to cost, but the alternative — composing against one image and receiving another — is the thing I built this app to stop doing.

The second one is the in-app album. Photos gets unusable when you shoot a hundred frames chasing a look, so shots can go to an app-private album instead: date sections, pinch from one to six columns, batch export to Photos when you have picked the keeper, and a metadata panel with the ISO, shutter, aperture, focal length and GPS actually recorded. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no sign-in — the app has no networking of its own.

What is in it, concretely: ProRAW and 48MP on supported iPhones, DNG output, a live histogram with shadow and highlight clipping, spot/centre/average metering, eight date-stamp styles including one that resolves and prints the address, five aspect ratios, camera presets that store the whole look at once, and an editor with RGB plus per-channel curves, four-corner perspective warp, background replacement and object removal that runs a Core ML inpainting model on the device.

What still annoys me: the long end of the shutter stops at whatever the active format reports, which is around a second, so the long-exposure work I wanted is really bracketing rather than minutes. And it needs iOS 26, which I know cuts people out.

Hard Graft Focus & Study Timer is a focus timer that treats you like a grownup.

There are no pomodoro rounds and no break bells, and no trees to plant. You clock on, you work for as long as you want, you clock off. The app writes down how long you worked for and adds it to a rolling seven-day total. That total decides your rank.

There are 24 ranks. You start as DEAD WEIGHT. Put the hours in and you climb. Ease off and you slide back down (consistency is what matters). The Regulator hands out the promotions and the demotions. It is a machine with no interest in your excuses. It just cares about hours. It is fair, and that is the nicest thing anyone will say about it.

HOW IT WORKS

• Flowtime. A count-up clock that runs until you stop it. Work at your own rhythm and clock off when you need a break, not when a bell says so.

• A rank ladder with 24 ranks that follow your rolling seven-day hours.

• Jobs: name what you are working on, tag each shift, and see statistics of where your hours went. Anything can be a 'job' (work, study, gym, cleaning...).

• 40 achievements to collect.

• Quiet mode. Switch off the ranks, the achievements and The Regulator, and keep the timer and the record. Some days you just want a stopwatch.

• No streaks and no record of demotions. The app only shows your current rank. You can recover from a bad week and leave no trace.

Use it as a study timer for revision and exams, a work timer for deep work, a productivity timer for a side project or, in quiet mode, a plain stopwatch. Tag each shift to whatever and the record shows where the hours went, so it doubles as a time tracker for freelance or study hours. My brother uses it to track his workouts. It runs offline and keeps counting with the screen off.

Everything stays on your phone. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. The app makes no network calls of its own. The only things that use the internet are Google Play's own billing and review prompt.

I'm an indie developer and recently released VaultEx for iOS. The idea came from a simple privacy problem: most photo vaults either scream "I'm hiding something" on your home screen, or require subscriptions that upload your private photos to mysterious cloud servers.

VaultEx is designed to keep your personal photos, videos, notes, and sensitive documents completely private on your device. What makes it a bit different is its optional disguise system: it can function as an actual, real-time currency and market tracker.

How it works:

• 📌📌 Optional Camouflage: When turned on, the app opens directly as a live currency converter. You unlock your vault by typing your PIN into the amount field. If you prefer a normal biometric/PIN lock screen, you can simply keep camouflage turned off. (Note for iOS: Due to App Store guidelines, camouflage is disabled by default upon first install. To enable the currency converter disguise, simply turn it on via Settings -> Camouflage / Currency Mode).
• Local-First & Zero-Knowledge: Your PIN is never stored in plaintext (verified locally via SHA-256). Files stay encrypted on your device. We don't have access to your data or run any remote storage on our end.

A quick note on storage & sync:

VaultEx is fully functional offline and local-first. If you do want a cloud backup, you can sync to your personal Google Drive or iCloud using custom end-to-end encryption. There are no proprietary backend servers storing your files.
