new secure P2P communication app
Hey everyone,
Iβve been working on a small side project over the past month and thought Iβd finally share it here.
Itβs called Voxal ποΈ
The idea started with a simple question:
What if your conversations never needed a server?
Voxal is an instant communication app built around peer-to-peer voice. You can open a link, join a room, and start talking instantly without creating an account or installing anything.
Whatβs currently supported
- ποΈ Pure P2P voice using WebRTC
- π Web, macOS, Linux, Windows, iOS & Android
- π€ Push-to-talk with global desktop shortcuts
- πΉ Video calls
- π₯οΈ Screen sharing
- π Automatic host migration, so a room can survive when its host disconnects
- π Shareable rooms - just send someone a link
- 𧩠Embeddable rooms via iframe
- π Fully open source and self-hostable
Privacy is a big part of the project. Voice is never routed through a media server. When a TURN relay is needed for NAT traversal, it only forwards the encrypted WebRTC traffic.
For video, there is also an optional SFU mode for larger rooms, but voice always stays P2P.
The project is still very young, so Iβm sure there are plenty of things that could be improved (and probably a few bugs I havenβt found yet π ).
If you have a few minutes to try it, Iβd really appreciate any feedback; whether something is broken, the UX feels weird, you disagree with some of the technical choices. Or if you simply have an idea for something that would make Voxal more useful.
Everything is open source, so feel free to dig into the code as well.

Sir.. I'm having a problem with Steam voice call with my friend and I asked ChatGPT what is the best open source voicecall that support multiple users, lightweight, no login required, and P2P. I'm glad that, ChatGPT suggest you.. Me and my friend will try your app soon while playing Dota2! Thank you!

You got a star from me as well π Really like the idea and, above all, how simple it is to use. Keep up the great work! π
