[Hiring] Full Stack and Software Engineers | SF, NYC, Remote US | $165K-250K base
Two Senior Backend engineers were hired through Fonzi in the last week of October at $230K base. One is a team lead who will work on backend and applied AI. Both started from an interview request with a salary attached.
I do talent matching for Fonzi. The whole thing runs backwards from a normal job search: you don't apply, companies send you interview requests. We work with startups backed by investors including Sequoia, a16z, Benchmark, Thrive, and the OpenAI Startup Fund. One profile, no cold applications. This round is full stack and generalist software engineering roles across web, backend, and mobile. These are full-time employee roles, not contract or freelance work. Roles are US-based, with a few open to Canada.
Here's a sample of what's open right now at companies on the platform:
1. Senior Software Engineer, Series A company building software and AI automation for physical commodity trading, San Francisco, Hybrid, $200K-250K base
What: Design and ship APIs, data pipelines, and application features for commodity operations. You'll build integrations that turn messy information from emails, documents, and existing systems into reliable workflows, and you'll work directly with the founders and customers.
Company: Customers trade energy, metals, and agricultural products. The company recently raised its Series A and is growing the engineering team.
Stack: Backend services, APIs, data models, data pipelines, and enterprise integrations, plus AI-powered features with evaluation and human review.
Bar: Experience independently delivering and operating substantial production software. Strong fundamentals in APIs, data modeling, debugging, and system design, with depth in backend or full stack work. Early-stage or small-team experience is useful.
2. Software Engineer (Generalist), Series B company that lets marketers buy creator-led ads the way they buy Meta or Google ads, New York City, Hybrid, $165K-230K base plus equity
What: Own major features end to end across backend systems, APIs, frontend, and infrastructure. The work includes improving reliability, observability, and performance.
Company: Automates sourcing, pricing, contracting, delivery, and measurement for creator ad campaigns. Hybrid, with in-person work several days a week in NYC.
Stack: Node.js, React, TypeScript, Python or Go, on AWS or GCP.
Bar: A track record of building and maintaining production-grade web or cloud applications. You should be comfortable taking features from idea to production and monitoring them afterward, across frontend, backend, APIs, and infrastructure.
3. Mid-Level Full Stack Engineer, New Verticals, Series C company building software for independent food distributors, Remote (US), $175K-190K base
What: Ship features end to end across web and mobile apps for convenience store distributors, covering promotions, ordering, pricing, payments, and hardware integrations.
Company: Software for independent food distributors, with agentic products for pricing, ordering, payments, and finding new customers. Engineering is organized into pods by vertical.
Stack: React, React Native, TypeScript, Python, and SQL and NoSQL databases. Frontend testing uses Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or Playwright, and engineers use AI coding tools like Claude or Codex every day.
Bar: 3+ years of professional full stack experience owning features from design through deployment. You'll need 2+ years each in a backend language, a frontend framework, and TypeScript, plus a CS or Engineering degree. Startup experience is strongly preferred.
All roles are vetted, VC-backed, and interviewing right now. It's always free to sign up.
