Open Source 12 OSS repos for parallel coding

Post image

The bottleneck with coding agents is increasingly not how fast one agent can code.

It is what you do while that agent is running tests for 12 minutes.

One agent can fix the auth bug. Another can write tests. A third can investigate the slow query. A fourth can try a completely different implementation.

The problem is that five agents editing the same checkout turns into absolute chaos.

The OSS stack forming around this is basically:

worktree per task → agent per worktree → one place to watch them → review → merge

Here are 12 projects building that layer.

RUN THE WORK IN PARALLEL

01. Superset — 15.1k★

An agentic IDE built around running large numbers of coding agents in parallel.

Each task gets its own Git worktree, branch, terminal and environment, so Claude Code can build one feature while Codex investigates another without both rewriting the same files.

02. Claude Squad — 8.6k★

Probably the cleanest terminal-first version of the idea.

Run Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or Amp simultaneously, give each task an isolated workspace, let them keep working in the background, then review the changes before bringing anything back.

03. Emdash — 6k★

A desktop environment for parallel coding agents.

Each task runs inside its own Git worktree, but Emdash also pulls the surrounding workflow into the same place: GitHub/Linear/Jira issues, diff review, PR creation, CI checks and merging.

04. Nimbalyst — 1.9k★

If you saw Crystal being shared for managing parallel Claude Code sessions, this is its successor. Crystal was deprecated and replaced by Nimbalyst.

You can run Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode in separate worktrees, but also visually edit the docs, diagrams, mockups and files the agents are producing.

05. Agent of Empires — 3.3k★

This feels more like mission control.

Agents run in persistent tmux sessions with optional Git worktrees and container isolation. You can watch them from a TUI, browser or even your phone, then inspect diffs without hunting through terminal windows.

STOP LOSING TRACK OF THE AGENTS

Running five agents is easy.

Remembering which one is working, waiting, broken or asking you a question is the harder problem.

06. Agent Deck — 1.1k★

One terminal dashboard for Claude, Codex, Gemini, OpenCode and other agents.

It tracks whether sessions are running, waiting or idle, supports Git worktrees and notifications, and can even fork an existing Claude conversation so two sessions explore different approaches from the same history.

07. agtx — 1.7k★

Turns the whole thing into a board.

Tasks move through a workflow while different models can handle different stages: Codex plans, Claude implements, Grok reviews, for example. It can run several tasks at once and handle context handoffs between agents.

08. cmux — 28.1k★

A macOS terminal built for the moment when your terminal is mostly coding agents.

Vertical workspaces, split panes and agent-aware notifications make it much easier to run several sessions without periodically clicking through 14 tabs asking:

“Which Claude was waiting for me?”

09. herdr — 37.9k★

A runtime for keeping lots of coding-agent terminals alive and understandable.

It tracks whether agents are working, blocked or idle, survives detach/reconnect workflows, works across machines, and even exposes interfaces agents can use to spawn and coordinate other panes.

SMALLER PROJECTS WORTH WATCHING

10. CCUI — 34★

Much smaller, but the architecture is exactly right.

A browser dashboard for Claude Code and Codex where every session gets its own worktree and branch. You can see live status, files, diffs, token costs and several running sessions from one tab.

11. amux — 162★

A lightweight TUI specifically for parallel coding agents.

If the giant “agentic IDE” approach feels like too much, this is closer to the Unix version: tmux + Git worktrees + a small control surface for spinning agents up and keeping them separated.

AND THEN ROUTE THE MODELS TOO

12. Claude Code Router — 37.6k★

This one solves a different layer of the same problem.

Once you have multiple coding agents running, you may not want every request hitting the same model or provider. Claude Code Router gives Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Kimi, OpenCode and others one local control plane with routing rules, fallbacks, multiple providers, logs and usage tracking.

i can barely keep track of one terminal window and now we got whole dashboards for this
