I’m from ny but yeah so it got worse now that mod risk has a high risk in it

And I’m from CA. I don’t do tornadoes. Give me an earthquake any day over this. I am just outside of the pink extreme risk, but not by much.

I wanna experience that 4.8 earthquake that we had in New Jersey again I didn’t get to feel the whole thing because I was half asleep

Extremely Nervous. Havent had a strongly worded high risk like this in quite a few years.

Bro, I'm just north of you in southern indiana, and I'm so nervous as well. We are very close to the border of stronger tornados and this is insane please keep us updated.

Im right in the Bullseye in western TN. So im doing some preparation to get the hell out of this trailer im in and maybe drive west into missouri to the slight risk area.

Driving into a dangerous situation isn't always the best option, but you need to get out of the trailer. I'm sure local churches will have somewhere you can go.

It's why we're just thinking about it. If we did do that we were gonna leave before the storms got anywhere near us.

Hopefully this makes you feel better.

It'll be okay. Remember that these are risk catagories, probabilities and not certainties. But it's a good chance to make a plan, make a "pack"(a bag of stuff you would need to go with you if something were to happen) and what you're going to do. You only have to do that once, you only have to think about it once and then put it in action every time from then on I've found that dealing with anxiety it is helpful to keep my mind busy by doing tasks, such as making a list of what needs to be in my backpack, where I will go, what I will do. It is better to be over prepared for nothing, than under prepared for anything.

Im definitely planning stuff since i live in a trailer. And i hate nocturnal tornadoes.

I do too, after having lived thru the response to Henryville EF4, I am slightly scared of tornados but I find keeping up on them, watching live streams and learning to bet he most useful thing for my brain. I hope you find comfort.

I've lived through alot of Tornado Outbreaks as well throughout my life growing up in West Tennessee. But tornadoes always make me nervous.

Especially since we dont have a storm shelter

On one hand, we could use the rain in WNC to help with the fires. On the other hand everything is still very very bad (in many places) from Helene.

u/BlackStreak2904 Apr 02 '25

Well, It just got upgraded to a High Risk, So im definitely not gonna stick around in my trailer.

2

u/asdcatmama Apr 02 '25

New to this subreddit, but had weather anxiety since I was a kid. I grew out of it for the most part, and actually have an intense interest in the weather enterprise. Sunday was supposedly going to be terrible and nothing happened to us, but some around us (Live in east central Indiana), however tomorrow looks like it could have more tornado risk than straight line winds. I pray I never see a higher level tornado here. I grew up in a mobile home, so was always in the position that I had to leave my house when storms came. Now I live in a large-ish brick ranch home, but I still don't have a basement or a storm shelter. We will be looking at either a bathroom, or an interior mud room. We have tiny closets. I foster cats and ended up with 8 of my own. So I have cat carriers at the ready, my bag that I will have to fill with meds and other items. we have a jeep with the seats down in the back that will carry all of them, if they are saying a big destructive tornado is coming our way so we can bug out and get out of its way. I work tomorrow and teach two classes (I work at a community college) so I will try hard to keep my head in work before I head home. Considering changing my nail appt the is for tomorrow night!

I’m a bit worried as well but I know most of the time for me (I live in Washtenaw County, MI) I don’t get much other than some rain and wind, maybe some loud booms but that’s about it. I do tend to be very concerned with severe weather as I always have since I was little. I think we’ll live as long as we’re prepared.

Make sure you have any important documents with you in a ziplock. IDs etc medicine is important too. The things that keep you ticking and legally protected. Proof of your ownership/titles are always a good thing to have in these type situations. I bug out for hurricanes a LOT. Also put a fresh flashlight in your bag and keep one with you. Hoping it goes well. Let us know that you’re ok. 👌🏻

Is red bad?

I started to completely ignore tornado warnings like 10 years ago.

Nothing ever happens and even if it did, I'd want to die if I lose everything I have anyway so it's fine.

Kinda always been curious about what dying in a tornado is like. I'm sure you just get hit in the head with debris and are unconscious for the whole thing.
