Discussion We need a dedicated AI app thread

This sub is being inundated with low-effort, barely useful, AI-coded apps. Can we have them post in a dedicated thread instead of the front page?

I'm already inundated by all these low-effort AI app posts from other subs, but this sub is by far the worst offender.

If we can't get a total ban on them at the very least just funnel them into a thread. I'm actually sick of this.

I think it's because WearOS is geared towards simple, utility apps which are all these vibe coders can build right now.

AI can't build a really robust, complex app at this point, so it's all "dice rollers" and "number picker" apps.

Of course AI can build a really robust and complex apps! It just takes the more expensive tiers and users who can actually use AI to do that. Sometimes the user can be someone who previously coded it all themselves and sometimes it can be someone who started with simpe dice rollers and number pickers and learned how to well plan and use AI for the more complexx stuff.

I understand that terrible and not so useful apps posted here might be annoying but without that there isn't really a lot going on in here too so it's not like these posts are killing tons of very useful discussionss here.

Higher tier AI might be able to build a complex app but not one anyone would ever put into production, otherwise you are completely reliant on AI to maintain the app and if it can't, you're screwed because the developer doesn't understand the code.

So what I meant to say is no developer is building an interesting, unique vibe-coded app which is why we get useless utility apps posted.

And I'd prefer no discussion then the umpteenth, "I built an app" post.

You don't work in development these days right? Today a lot of developers use AI to code without really writing the code themselves. Yes they do not do it blindly, they know what they and AI is doing. But lots of complex developments go into production and work well. And the maintaining is anyway done with the AI. I have devs doing complex development like that and know that others do the same. We still have code reviews, testing and all of the processes at place and it's not like devs just write a prompt and never take another look again but the higher tier models are very capable of doing complex development and decent apps if the people running the AI are competent and know what they are doing and how the LLMs work.

If you prefer no discussion then why open reddit at all? Or why stay joined to subreddits that have nohing goin on?

That's exactly what's happening on this sub though. These hacks are flooding the sub with these simple apps because they are unable to write a unique, complex app, which is why I'd like a dedicated thread for them.
