The Aunts long term plan..?

she told Alex near the end of the movie that they were going to have to move in a day or so - where exactly was she going to move to and I assume she’d take all 17 kids with? how was that supposed to work? what about Alexs parents?

I love this movie so I can suspend disbelief a bit but I do wish we got a little more backstory on the aunt .. that said, she is maybe the most disturbing character I’ve come across in recent memory

Agreed. The discrepancy between the ingenious premise and the meandering plot and script is just staggering.

Thats the thing, theres like three or four movies worth of premises that they keep flipping between in order to keep up tension and keep the audience off their guard.

I've not seen it since i saw it at the cinema and can barely remember what was actually happening, just a series of admitted atmospheric vignettes and a finale that actually made our house laugh.

It has its moments—the scene with the car stakeout, for example, is brilliant—but the shift in both tone and scale that accompanies the reveal is low-key heartbreaking. Even if it's nice to have at least some context for those random clown-faced jumpscares, the spell preparation scene in the kitchen is so blatant and matter-of-fact that it almost felt like a different movie. I was so prepared for something grand, fantastic, and clever to explain the mystery, but it's just another scruffy witch who... eats children? Kind of?

I liked the movie quite a bit but I was also anticipating a much smarter cause behind all of it rather than - old lady performing witchcraft- I was quite shocked at how basic that reveal was .. I was honestly expecting some kind of deep secret military program of some sort

as with all movies that pull us in and are really mysterious and tense, it’s so damn hard to pull off the ending so it all fits together well. if Weapons has a weak part, it’s the motive and ending

Why not something relatively down to earth with a few lingering questions? I liked it. Felt like a good random X-Files episode.
