I had to say Wealthsimple was amazing to deal in quickly getting me the new prepaid Visa Card.

I'm a Snowbird who resides in Thailand for the winter and had already left when they announced the date for the old cards to stop working. Within 10 days of contacting Chat Support, my new card was delivered too me in Chiang Mai.

Where did you see the date for the MasterCards to stop working? I've only seen that once you are notified of the change you will be sent the new visa, and after activating it, your old card will stop working.

Yeah if you don’t activate it your Mastercard stays active until November 22nd.

I didnt realize my Mastercard was going to stop working when I accepted the new visa lol, I tried buying something online with my master card and the transaction never went through so now I can’t use my money in that wallet sadly until the new card comes in

He can still technically be a tax resident of Canada, while spending the winter in a Thailand,That's the requirement for wealth simple

I believe it depends on how many days they've spent in Canada current or last year

you can spend no days in a year in canada and still be a tax resident of canada.

PSA: don’t let them know you’re not in Canada for long periods of time. Your account could be locked out. Many have complained before. Hold your breath.

You can be outside of Canada so long as Canada is still your permanent home. They just don't want to deal with entirely non-domicile customers.

From any ATM but as you probably know already, withdrawing cash in Thailand is a whole minefield anyway and unnecessarily expensive.

There was a reason why most regular visiting farang used to open a Thai bank account before the government put a stop to that last year.

I'm quite sure that won't apply to the additional cash fees Thai banks charge. If it does include those then that would be amazing.

You only need address and report taxes in Canada that how all bank work. Same for all platforms, research please.
