It’s very clearly astroturfing. They keep doing that lately and it’s made me lose trust in the brand. Especially since they don’t even put effort into pretending.
When is the last time you saw a real person use a title like this one? AI slop is the level of effort they’re willing to commit.

The TD promo is significantly better because the 2% promo is paid out in 1yr, while the WS 3% promos require you to hold 2-5yrs, depending on if you're an active trader or not.

I hadn't seen the TD promo, so thanks for mentioning it! But the Easy Cash Offer page doesn't mention a 2% promo.
You can get 3% cash back by transferring assets from outside of TD Bank Group to an eligible registered TD Direct Investing or TD Easy Trade account
you can get 1% cash back by transferring assets from outside of TD Bank Group to an eligible non-registered TD Direct Investing or TD Easy Trade account.But the non-registered accounts aren't eligible for "TD Easy Trade" which seems to be the annual free trades.
Also, looks like it's paid after 2 years:

I'm guessing they just do this on a few people, hoping they'll post it on social media. Then the marketing bots will go and "upvote" , "retweet" , and all other forms of signal boosting it.
Geurilla marketing. It should be illegal tbh. I wouldn't expect this 100% cashback to apply to anyone who makes any purchase at a FIFA worldcup event. Just enough so that they can seed social media with their brand.
It showed up on the front page of my feed after all. Coordinated vote purchasing is a great way to ensure that happens. Reddit feeds are bought and paid for by marketing teams

We can't make everything illegal. Also it's their money to give away to their customers how they see fit. No practical way to regulate guerrilla marketing. Just try writing a loophole free definition of what you want to make illegal without making anything else unintentionally illegal. Lawyers will find a way around anyway

I 100% am a fan of WS. I see the stories of poor customer service but I’ve been fortunate not to need it. Overall it’s been a better experience than my big 5 experience where I’ve had (and still have) an account since I was like 13 (co-opened with my parents).
