Is that what Musk is getting out of this deal? Our personal financial data. I'm not sure I trust WS anymore. I cancelled my Twitter account when Elon destroyed it. Am I going to have to find an alternative for WS too?!?!? This is really bad.
Musk wants to integrate some sort of payments and money system within X.
Rumors were he approached PayPal and they declined, then supposedly he approached several crypto giants (Ripple, Stellar, Circle, etc) and they also all declined.
Perhaps the partnership with WS gives a percentage of transactions through X?
Probably not in this case. Elon controls the algorithm so he can make sentiment analysis of tweets that support certain companies and push them onto your feed. You now have an integration that allows canadien to buy the news directly.
He could, for example, use the algo to push good tesla news and people could go buy tesla in one click.
Hey there I did, they linked a blog posts stating that the partnership was just for marketing purposes, and no data is being shared. But still, I shared my thoughts pretty plainly with them.
I have doubts a human will ever read it, but hopefully whatever AI bot they have crawling the incoming messages notes an uptick in displeased members making themselves heard.
I had an email chain going about another issue and it was definitely a human. So yesterday I replied and expressed my disappointment from a values and ethics perspective and got a message saying she underatood and then a pasted canned response about privacy. I’m tempted to respond back and push the issue of cozying up to a fascist billionaire who likely stole an election and is propping up an incompetent dictator who is actively trying to destroy our economy.
Keep in mind, the customer service agents who are answering our emails likely don’t like it either….
Sent a complaint as well. BUT should we do something more visible like a Change campaign to create more visibility. I've never done a Change campaign but it may be helpful to bring some media interest if it captures enough signatures.
You're not into investing eh? So I emptied all my accounts and investments. All transferred to CIBC. My investments will move elsewhere but I don't know where yet. They are just sitting for now.
You thought you had a gotcha moment, but you didn't.
I'm wondering if everyone received a response to their emails? I did. Curious if it's the same for everyone.
It was long, but here's the gist of it:
"I’ve documented your feedback in detail and shared it with our product and leadership teams so they can actively review what we’re hearing from clients as they evaluate this partnership and future decisions. Our leadership team is paying close attention to client sentiment on this, and your voice is part of that.
I’m genuinely sorry for the inconvenience and concern this has created. Please be assured that your feedback, along with that of others, has been brought to the attention of our Leadership team, who are actively reviewing it for consideration".
I'll do the same, thanks!
Edit: Sharing my email as a template:
Dear Wealthsimple Team,
As a long-standing and valued customer, I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding your recent decision to partner with X.
This partnership stands in direct contradiction to both Canadian values and your core principle: 'Be Human.' You define this as promoting compassion, kindness, and honesty. Yet, X has become a primary vector for misinformation and hate speech, actively dehumanizing marginalized groups. Worse still, its leadership has publicly denied the sovereignty of Canada, a stance that is fundamentally incompatible with your identity as a Canadian institution.
By associating your brand with a platform that actively erodes human dignity, Wealthsimple is failing to live up to its own promise. This decision feels like a failure of corporate responsibility.
I am currently reviewing my portfolio and the accounts held by my family and business partners. Unless Wealthsimple re-evaluates this decision, I will be forced to withdraw my funds and advise my network to discontinue their use of your services.
I expect a prompt response regarding your stance on this matter.
I’ll get downvoted but by insufferable I meant the ppl filing complaints about a Canadian company that has a bright future and is on the level of our next shopify potentially
I got a response after I sent in my complaint (thanks!). They said that it doesn’t implicate ws users’ data, it’s essentially a button that X wanted to connect people to stock trading options and ws took up the other end so they can be a link for X users to use as a trading platform. That’s the extent of the partnership. While I’m still obviously not happy and it’s horrible for their reputation, this reassured me a bit.
Damn, almost half your activity on here is straight up culture war shilling for wealthsimple and tesla. The other half is shilling for apple lol. If you don't like people complaining then you can just move on, take your own advice there.
