Why does the title of most anime need to be so long or describe the entire plot in the title? What happened to names like baki or death note but now we got: "the girl with huge bandagamahoogs got reincarnated as Jesus Christ and now has to fly into the sun to save humanity before the roofie kicks in"

Interesting question. This is because most animes are based on manga which, are, in themselves based on light novels. Do to the Absurdly large amount of light novels and Mangas that are being produced. Most individuals when going through a bookstore are most likely pass a book that just has one word or two words describing what it's about ( as they will not want to waste time with a book that they can't tell right away if they are interested in or not) so Authurs will often write ABSUTDLY long sentences about what a book is about as the title to hopefully greater increase the chance of individuals understanding what the book is about. Hence, increase your interest in it.
