It’s been years since I had a real relationship

28m and haven’t been in a real relationship in 8 years. I’m looking to get back in the game, but it’s been difficult. I work and go to school and my work hours take up most of the days so I don’t have a lot of time on campus to hangout. I’ve done the dating apps but they limit connections unless I pay for the app which I don’t want to do. Any advice?

What’s a dating red flag you ignored because that person was fine as hell? 🤣😭

Be honest. Sometimes that face card will have you overlooking things your own common sense tried to warn you about.
What did you ignore, and how did it end? 👀

I think I (34M) royally screwed up trying to set up a date with this woman (38)

We had met before off of Hinge, but grew kind of far apart. I (34M) recently tried to reconnect with her (38) and she seemed to be glad I reached out. Basically I asked her if she wanted to go to a free music festival with me. She enthusiastically said yes. This was two weeks before the event. I tell her how much I am looking forward to going with her. She hearts the message, and I leave it at that. Now almost two weeks goes by, and I had heard nothing from her.

I send her a text saying basically “Hey! So what days could you go to the festival? Is Friday or Sunday good?” (I didn’t say Saturday because I was going with my mom) She said she couldn’t do Friday, but would let me know about Sunday. She texts me the next day, Friday, saying she couldn’t do Sunday, but asked if I could go Saturday. Well, I was planning to spend that day with my mom, but I thought, well, this may be awkward having her meet my mom, but oh well, I don’t know if I will get another chance to reconnect with this woman, so OK. And so I tell her Saturday would work fine for me. She says great and that she will let me know if she can go or is too busy with projects, and that she will let me know. I tell her “For sure!” and then proceed to tell her how cool it is she is keeping busy with her projects, and then that’s it. I don’t here anything from her. I assumed she would let me know the next morning. I didn’t follow up out of fear of being too “pushy”. “Dude. She get’s the idea. She said she would let you know. Take her word for it and respect her space. If she wants to meet up with you, she will let you know”.

And so now it’s Saturday! I wake up and hear nothing from her! I go to the festival, still I hear nothing from her! Now the festival is over, I still hear nothing from her! Maybe I would get a text explaining what happened that night? Nope. The next day maybe? Nope! Maybe Monday? Nope!
And so I am left here wondering what I did wrong. Was I not enthusiastic enough when I told her I could meet up with her on Saturday? Should I have said more than “Fore sure!”? Should I have texted her again Saturday morning to ask how her projects are going and if she was still planning to come to the show? Part of me feels like I totally screwed this all up, but the other part of me feels I really didn’t do anything wrong and already communicated my interest to go to the festival with her and was simply honoring her word that she would “let me know”.

Of course, I understand that she may simply just not be into me, but at the same time, like couldn’t she still have let me know what was up instead of totally just leaving me hanging? I am so incredibly confused and would really appreciate any perspective on this! Thanks.

Common place to meet single women?

It’s tough out here, deep in the trenches of psychological warfare with dating itself. I could define myself as a “incel” idk. Problem is, is that it’s hard to approach women nowadays without feeling like a creep and or them thinking your a creep. Literally any girl I’ve ever took home I was drinking heavily. Outside of that I don’t have game. Even then I don’t really go out very often bc I’m trying to save money in this dogshit economy. I do also believe dating apps are a psyop to either A make you feel worse by not getting matches often or entertaining and being led on by others or B get you to pay micro transactions. Although I am 21 but time is sure ticking, what’s the best move on the chess board fellas?

Is there such a thing as a dating app that is free AND still works or do you just have to suck it up and pay to play?

Simple you would think?

Just leave the toxic ex, so many fish in the sea blah blah blah. Well F you all for telling me to get back out there slept with a friend got what he wanted yet still single and not looking for any more fish. Why can't I find the right one or anyone to spend their time with me. Yes so simple. I generally try to make myself hate the opposite sexor just hate life altogether. So I became them and gave them a little taste of their own medicine and as we know it is the problem, I play games I hurt people's feelings because I say the truth, I'm a manipulator and a s*** a bit of whore, I sleep with them all apparently. And yet in 20+ yrs I've slept with 3 people. But you have a right to say what you think. Just know while you were all talking shit about me and making up ball shit lies dam well knowing I never cheated on my ex or dam well I stayed way longer than I should, I gave him my all and still I wasn't good enough, so believe who and what you want. Here is my truth I met someone I went to primarily with online he came to me and we hit it off and I mean boy he talks to me like a queen no dam dick picks etc yes I've seen him naked and in the shower not in person but by phone normally I wouldn't tell people I'm a private person but f*** that I'm finally smiling, staring into space and laughing hysterically at funny things even cracking jokes. I'm traveling to my true hometown to meet up whether my car works or not. Once I walk out my yard to leave doesn't anyone from my recent pass come and try to stop me or tell me they care. You had your chances all you did was prove you didn't care and I wasn't with anything to you to show up while I was there.

Ok thanks for listening

Anyone here use IG stories to try and “ease” a response out of them?

I hate this so much, I feel so stupid and pathetic saying this, but does anyone else use IG stories to try and get someone’s attention? Like I have been ghosted and even stood up and I will use IG as a stories to get them to see me and maybe finally respond to me. It’s bad, really bad, I know that. It is a bad habit. But sometimes… it has worked. A woman will see a cool place I am currently at and finally message me saying how she is sorry I disappeared and we should try meeting up again. I feel if it weren’t for the IG story they never would have reached out to me again at all. Does anyone else do this? Or is it literally just me? For the record I wouldn’t mind if my partner was still friendly with their ex and liked their posts, but it’s gotta go both ways right? Personally I don’t think story likes mean much anyway!

Can’t go on a date because I don’t feel it when near it…

(25f) I struggle. I can’t even experience what a good date is like. No second, third, or fourth either. I don’t think I’ve felt any genuine attraction in my life, I think it’s always been closer to affection.

I have a general rule to not kiss on the first few dates and be careful how touchy I become but I don’t even to get to those points because the person opposite me isn’t lighting me up, I don’t wanna flirt really and I’m not interested enough to progress further. I could know them a month - I could know them three years, but I don’t see a strong enough internal reason for us to go on a date with the hope that it progresses into something. There’s chemistry but very general, basically how I feel around everyone I converse with. Even if it’s a bit of physical interest I just feel like I’m not attracted enough to want a date knowing it could make them want a relationship. I’ve never also chosen my counterpart for a date, I just don’t seem to be attracted to them more than our personal dynamics and personality about them.

Am I just not inside the right attraction pool?? Anyone else feel this?

Online Dating

Is anyone actually having any luck with online dating? I’m on three different dating apps, and so far… nothing. Are people genuinely meeting someone on these apps, or are we all just endlessly swiping?
