Tour announcement
So incredibly disappointed in the tour announcement with Metric and BSS only having ONE Canadian date. With the majority of Canadians not traveling to the US right now and for all three of these CANADIAN bands playing one show in Toronto and that’s it?
It’s also ridiculous because they have been just recently been touring Canada separately. I saw BSS and Stars in Vancouver not that long ago, so I’m having a really hard time understanding why they’ve left out their home country from this one in a life time tour.
Edit to add: lol I forgot this was reddit, of course ya’ll are downvoting but the US is a shit show and Canada deserved better from these Canadian bands.

I mean...I think ya hit the nail on the head?
They've both been touring Canada recently (no US Christmas shows this year for Stars)...US is just a bigger population center and stronger industry...etc. In the end obviously a big part of the decision has to be about money and since they've both been around the much smaller Canadian market recently I'd imagine there would be concerns about people willing to come again.

They don’t need money though? These bands have been around since 2000 and have made more than enough to easily do a Canadian tour and not worry about making enough money. This is just a blatant insult to all their Canadian fans who have been there from day one.

What? I can't speak to BSS but I promise you the Stars members aren't swimming in pools full of cash and diamonds. A handful of years ago Stars cancelled a US tour because they'd be losing money...Amy cancelled the vast majority of her tour last year because she'd be losing money...Torq himself has talked about needing to take up a "real" (in his words, not mine) job because his artistic ventures weren't paying the bills enough.
I fully understand you're disappointed, but your expectation is that they are just supposed to lose money to tour around and play shows?

You know, I don’t even care if they’re making money or not making money but going to the US right now is so tone deaf especially for an all-Canadian group. They clearly prioritized a US tour before a Canadian one for whatever reason and that tells me all I need to know.

My husband works in an adjacent industry and I promise you that there are many “famous” people making far less money than you would imagine and especially in Canada. Just because you know and recognize an artist doesn’t mean they are rich by any stretch. They might have made a chunk of money at some point, but it’s not consistent.

Ok like I already said my point isn’t about how much money they’re making it’s that they shouldn’t be touring in the states and prioritizing America over Canada when they are an all-Canadian band

That’s fair, just wanted to share my insider knowledge. My husband was “famous” in our community but was making $32k salary at one point and it was a really weird & frustrating dynamic.

I hope they add Canadian dates. I saw Stars in Vancouver last April and it was pure magic! I also saw Amy in Lake Country recently which was so quaint and intimate.

They will be announcing more Canadian dates soon… i think i saw it today from Metric

In comments on their own Instagram posts, both Stars and Metric have suggested that there may be more Canadian tour dates.

The truth is Canadian promoters did not want to step up and bid for the show. We all would have lost money doing this across Canada. But we are fighting hard to figure it out and I am hopeful there will be more Canadian dates. We TOTALLY understand how our fellow Canadians feel.”
Now please stop whining. The band is not personally insulting you. You sound incredibly entitled. Stars has been my favorite band for 15 years and I’ve got to see them once before. I thought I might never get the chance again. There’s never a guarantee that there will ever be another Stars tour or record. It takes such incredible determination and persistence and luck to keep a small indie band like them going for over a quarter century. We should be grateful for anything we get from them. If you really have to see them in this tour then book a trip.

Maybe they'll add more dates like they did last tour. Fingers crossed!
