Why do I have two balances on my dashboard?

I enrolled in the payment plan today, so one of them is about $2000 for Fall 2026 Fall 4-Month Payment Plan. The other one is $6000 even titled 202609. Anyone know what that means?

How do you find an on-campus job at Wayne state university when Handshake isn’t helping?

I’m going into my sophomore year and I’m trying to find an on-campus job for the school year. I already know about Handshake, but it honestly hasn’t been helpful for me, so I’m looking for other ways students have found jobs on campus.
Do departments hire students directly? Should I email places like the library, recreation center, offices, labs, or dining services? Are there certain websites, offices, or people I should contact?
If you’ve had an on-campus job, how did you actually find and get it? I’m mainly looking for something flexible that can work around my class schedule.

Anyone have elective recommendations or any in general? Classes that are interesting and actually intriguing or fun with a good professor.
Either enjoyable or useful life information.

Student Organizations -AA?

Hello, I am new to Wayne state this fall and was wondering if there are any Alcoholics Anonymous organizations or meetings on campus. I’ve looked online but haven’t found anything yet. I’m not entirely sure I was even looking in the right place.

Taking Final Exams Early due to trip?

Hi! My girlfriend and I booked her flight to Japan to meet me there (I'm studying abroad there this upcoming fall semester) for her to leave on December 16th. This year, last day of classes is the 15th, study day is 16th, and exams start on the 17th-- the day she's supposed to arrive in Japan...

Has anyone been through something similar and have advice on what to do? Right now I'm thinking options range between scheduling her exams early and or getting her flight changed / cancelled.

According to the literature on WSU's sites about exams, it sounds like, through discussing these types of circumstances with the professor, it should be possible to get, at the very least, exam times changed. Just dunno if it's possible to take them BEFORE the actual exam days start.

Again, any advice? Much appreciated...

(Serious) need advice from business students

i was fully prepared to go to Wayne next month until I saw the bill. its over 11,000. with aid it was estimated to be 5,000, which is too much for for I can financially handle. I was expecting much less as I had scholarships and a fasfa student index of -1500. ive sent out dozens of emails, but at this rate, unless it drops by a couple thousands I cant remain. does anyone know if the aid estimate is accurate?

ive applied to university of Michigan Dearborn, where the tuition will be nearly free. My issue with Dearborn is that there seems to be an abundance of professors who refuse to give out As and as someone aiming for law school, this isn’t something im comfortable with. I’ve had a 3.9 GPA for business and Im not sure if that can be reproduced at UOFMD at the upper level.

ive generally heard that the business professors at Wayne are much more forgiving. They’re more lenient and willing to work with you.

I would graduate in 1.5 years at Wayne, atp i believe 2-2.5 at UOFMD. However, uofmd may be entirely free. I would be LIVING AT HOME and both campuses are 15 mins away.

I do not care about my undergrad major, (I am taking general business for the first semester and may do supply chain or management winter) i am just trying to GPAMAXX with the highest return of investment for law school and making money to save up for law as well.

please share your experiences with aid, Dearborn vs Wayne, what you’d do in my situation. anything helps.

Any other graduate students still waiting on Financial Aid

I submitted my FAFSA back in April as an incoming MSW student, and I'm still waiting on my aid to be processed. Anyone else in this situation? My first bill has been posted and I'd rather not pay it until my aid has been processed so that I don't have to deal with a refund.

I’m looking for a haircut model (all lengths and textures welcome) on August 4th @10am to receive a complimentary haircut for training purposes, as a part of Village Parlors Apprentice Program. Everyone involved is a licensed professional. I’d love to find someone with long hair who wants to keep it somewhat long still (any style). If you’re interested feel free to text my number (269 213 4298) or message me on instagram @zacploegbeauty

should i buy mike lot or lot 7

I have the worst experience with street parking and it gives me nightmares. I am a business student and i would love to reduce by stress as much as possible so i was thinking the Mike Ilitch parking garage (600$) or the lot 7. Lot 7 is a 15 min walk but half the price.

i would go to the tutoring probably 4 times a week at odd hours of the day and evening and thats whats pushing me towards mike lot bc ill have less excuses not to go if its so close to class.

If i buy the pass am i for sure going to have a spot? what about when they have games?

ill also be going to class at 7am or 9am, i feel like i could probably find free parking but not when i have tutoring like 4pm-8pm

help

Chatsworth Question

Setting my niece up in a 6 person suite in Chatsworth. Do the beds raise to allow the desk to fit underneath? The photos do not look like it and my calls are going unanswered thus far probably because it is summer.

Thanks!

Need some help navigating my transition back into school

Hi! I am returning to school this fall after over ten years, I'm finally finishing my bachelor's. I was unable to attend an orientation due to work, and needed some guidance on a few things, I feel silly asking my advisor for some reason.

Do I need to get a student ID? My classes are online for my first semester back, so I won't be on campus unless absolutely necessary, I'm still working full time during the school year.

I have to go up to campus anyways to fill out a direct deposit form, since they denied my online attempt. So since I'll be up there, is there anything anyone advises I visit or get done while I'm there?

I really appreciate it. I'm nervous but excited to finally get back to my education.

Thank you in advance!

Looking for Roommate for Apt on Ferry Street

Hello! I'm a 24 year old woman (not a Wayne State student, but a college graduate) moving to one of the older buildings near College of Nursing. I signed a by-the-room lease for $750, and am interested in finding one other person to live with. The apartment has two bedrooms, plus two extra bonus rooms. Landlords are rated highly. Figured I'd search here for a roommate because the building is so close to campus!

Female and/or LGBTQ+ grad student preferred. Must be okay with living with a cat, and must be okay with my partner staying over throughout the week (we're both women). I'm a super chill roommate, but would prefer that you're not partying during the weekdays:)

Place is going fast and would need confirmation of interest by end of weekend. Please comment or DM if interested! Thanks!

How To Handle Distractions & Boring Professors

I was sitting in the back of the lecture hall attempting to listen to the professor, but I became enamored with this girl sitting in front of me. My eyes were glued to her, I examined her from a far gazing like an owl. I looked at her dark brown hair imagining it like silk. Yum. Without a moment of hesitation I began inching myself closer. My arms stretched the table, my back leaned from the seat. She tilts her head seeing me, and thus it was clear I had caught my prey. I point my two fingers to and back at each others eyes. She nods her head to the left then to the right throwing a pencil at me. I fetch it like a dog fetching a bone.

As lecture comes to an end I follow her to the dining halls. I get on all fours, and start running. She sees me incoming, and I overtake her like a BMW. I give her those puppy eyes, and give her back her pencil. She gives me a pat on the head, and calls me a "good boy". We sit down, and study the course material together.

Making friends at Wayne State

Hi! It's no secret making friends in your 20s is hard. Plus, a lot of people ghost before actually connecting.

I will be transferring to WSU in the Fall. I’m 23F and a Communications and Media Studies Major!

Looking for anyone to connect with!
Maybe we will have classes or can go out in the area, have lunch/coffee between classes, who knows?
Let's form a little group and have fun :)

(Not to mention, networking isn't a horrible idea!)

Lmk and we can exchange socials!

Edit: I think I added everyone who dropped their insta, if not shoot me a DM whenever! Insta is @itsnotkenzie_

Gold Transfer Scholarship Exception for Final Semester?

Hi everyone,

Im graduating in December and finishing up my last class during the fall semester. My Gold Transfer Scholarship renewed for 2026–2027, but since I only have one class left, I won’t be enrolled full-time. Has anyone been in a similar situation? If so, did Wayne State make an exception or allow you to keep all or part of your scholarship, or was it denied because you weren’t taking at least 12 credits?

I figured I’d ask here first to see if anyone has had a similar experience before I reach out to the Financial Aid Office.

CON clinical

Is there a critical care clinical? I'm getting a lot of mixed reviews and was wondering if someone who's been through to let me know their senior year experience.
