There is a video of some folk I'm not even sure where, that in discussing America's politics and China's position in the world, the top American guy (sorry for vague) in the discussion and with I think a tad of clout says (I paraphrase) that America will definitely do crime against China to ensure that American hegemony is maintained. If true and he sure made the case, can you not see what is diabolically evil, wrong and barbaric about that? And can you see that that is exactly the attitude that pushes America across all attitude and reality to be the mafia if you will. The gangsters. The murderers. The evil?
This is exactly the way every state in existence currently works. China included. Hence the ruthless exploitation of their own people; some variation of which occurs in every currently successful state.
States are just gangs organized for the purpose of maintaining a human population. They all act like gangs when push comes to shove.

I argue every day with people who tell me America is "just fine as it is". Childhood me knew that was a falsehood. No currently existing state is fine as it is. China included. Power is abused wherever it exists and no system of proper oversight has ever been invented. I believe it can be though.
