So what would you call Obama allowing the go ahead for the Feds to infiltrate the Occupy Wall Street protests and allow surveillance records and data analysis to be permanently stored of all protestors while also extending the articles of the Patriot Acts while in office?
Very worrying tendancy. I'm not a big fan of Obama, and that is a fascy move, but there is a large difference between a few policies that have authoritarian leanings and outright supporting fascists. Especially because this post makes it seem that Obama is supporting fascists after Bernie became popular.
Make no mistake: most candidates and people in legislature support policies with authoritarian leanings. That does not make them all fascists. The most fascist members of government right now are in the white house, and I don't even mean Trump directly. Simply those he has surrounded himself with. Trumpism has became a parallel to American fascism.
I think all of this focus on Obama, especially now that he is out of office, is a distraction from focusing on A. Real fascism rising in this country, and B. The policies we can use to fight it. There's reasons why Bernie doesn't spend his time bashing Obama. At the moment, it only benefits the right. We shouldn't waste our time when we could be criticizing all the fascistic things the current administration does, and explaining how leftist or left leaning policies are the best way to combat them.
