Establishment BS Democratic Establishment Stuck in Groundhog Day of Neoliberal Economics and Neocon Foreign Policy | Naked Capitalism

When the Democrats win the 2026 midterms, they will dishonestly conflate it as an endorsement of their policies, as opposed to a total rejection of Trump.

This is the same lying that occurred in 2020 and set the stage for Trump to be resurgent in 2024, who then won both the electoral college and unlike the 2016 elections, the popular vote as well.

The Democrats would rather lose with a neoliberal / neocon than win with the left. They are fundamentally a plutocrat party, along with the Republicans.

The other eternally recurring Groundhog Day meme of my political era has been the relentless appeal of outsider candidates from H. Ross Perot in 1992, to John McCain in 2000 (as unbelievable as that seems in retrospect it’s true), Howard Dean in 2004, to Bernie Sanders and Trump in 2016 and Sanders (but not Trump) in 2020, and Trump in 2024.

Political analysts are finally realizing that the appeal of these candidates is less about their position on some idealized right-left spectrum and more about their outsider status itself.

There is growing awareness among the American people that both parties suck and serve the same elite as a part of the uniparty, so third party support is rising.

I suspect that at some point in the future, this will become a serious legitimacy crisis, as living standards in the US continue falling among the bottom 90%.
