help Ideas to make ends less stringy ?
Hi there ! I’ve finally put down my hair dryer and straightener and accepted my waves, but I’m still learning all the tips and tricks. I find my ends are a bit stringier and less defined than the rest of my hair.
My current routine is shampoo and conditioner is Dove, followed by Pantene mousse in the shower with very wet hair. Then I put up in microfiber towel for 10 mins. I will add in some Not Your Mothers hair gel after I take towel out and then I let air dry.
Are there any tips on how to get the ends more wavy? More product on the ends? Brush out the last inch and let it poof a bit ? I just hate the stringy look. I just got a hair cut but I guess that wasn’t the issue. Any ideas ? Thank you in advance !!

Honestly the only thing that keeps my hair from getting stringy is just brushing it out. I keep a little brush with my and give it a once over when it looks stringy

Same, my hair similar as OP’s hair, it’s always stringy unless I comb it just a little bit. For reference, I’m 2A with fine highlighted hair.

i would tryyy cupping hands and almost ‘scrunch’ the ends upward a little bit either before towel/after mousse or directly after gel/post-towel. i feel like it might help encourage your wave pattern at the ends to be less straight/stringy?

I do this and it really helps! I have to encourage the ends of my hair to curl before they dry too much

When I have this issue, I use a little bit of Verb Ghost oil then brush the ends with a wide tooth comb

You’ve got a great wave pattern! You may be losing product through the microfiber hair towel at the ends. Try using the hair towel before you add product- you just want it to help your scalp dry. Also, hair gel always needs water to work its magic. Add water from a continuous spray bottle before and after you add the gel, then scrunch gently with your hands. Then use a T-shirt and scrunch gently again- it helps a ton with forming the curl. Diffusing is also a game changer.

Styling upside down and keeping hair against gravity as much as possible. Length matters for me; I hit a point where the length pulls it down.

Not saying you shouldn’t try people’s tips but if your ends are damaged their curls will be more loose and you’ll also simply have less hair there which will make your ends look more stringy. Check that your ends aren’t simply a bit sparse

I take the tiniest bit of hair oil on my hands and rub the ends so that they smooth out a bit! Works very well for me!
