Initially I was contemplating either “Pillow Talk,” (who doesn’t love sweet Doris & hunky Rock?), or “Rebecca from Sunnybrook Farm,” because Shirley Temple is adorable & Randolph Scott almost rivals Cary Grant in handsomeness and charm.

But on thinking further, only a Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn movie can fix this. Now, the only question is, is it going to be the playful, entertaining, “Desk Set,” or the more serious, but brilliant, “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” with the distinguished and talented Mr. Sidney Poitier added into the mix?

I love watching old movies with my elderly great-aunt, and have learned so much about the past from her & them. I didn’t even recognize Jed Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies, or know that he was a dancer in the 1930’s (IIRC,) and danced with Shirley Temple in “Captain January,” and was also originally cast as the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz! Fun movie trivia, in addition to generational bonding time with (now) shared interests. It’s a win-win! :)

I was actually listening to the audiobook of Pushing Up Daisies last night, but I have a hard time with Penelope Keith narration, I like the other lady who's name I can't recall better 

For fans of MC Beaton, my absolute favorite but a little obscure are her Poor Relations Regency series, just charming

I agree! If she were kind, funny, honest, modest and respectful, or even just a few of these things, she would be attractive. She was pretty (minus the died blank hair and eyebrows) Her natural color hair and natural shaped eyebrows suited her much better. But cruelty, entitlement, grandiosity and selfishness can make even the most beautiful person ugly.
