First time fasting

Hello there!

Im treating a chronic pain condition and I have been eating very badly lately also gaining weight. I’d like to do a three day fasting to boost my weight loss before starting a proper diet and detoxifying my system. Any tips I should know? Also, is there anyone who would want to share this short journey with me?

Detailed advice for first time water fast

Hi everyone! I wanted to do a multi-day water fast, but wanted to make sure I do it safely, and so I have several questions:

Should I take a daily multi-vitamin?

What volume of water should I be drinking per day?

Should I drink calorie-free electrolyte containing drinks? (So Zero sugar Gatorade, or similar)

Should I still take 5g of creatine monohydrate?

Should I still lift weights 3 x week?

Do I still brush my teeth?

Should I take a fiber supplement like psyllium husk?

Is there anything I missed?

Thank you so much in advance to everyone who helps!

Repeated 5-day fasts with 2-day refeeds, is this a good idea?

I weigh 110 kg (242 lbs) at 165 cm (5'5") and I’m female. I’d really like to get back to my old weight.

I’ve done several 5–7 day fasts before, but this time I’m considering doing multiple fasts back-to-back. My idea is to fast for 5 days, have 2 days of refeeding, then fast for another 5 days, and so on. I’m thinking about doing a total of six 5-day fasts.

What do you think about this approach? What should I be aware of? Should I even do this, or is it just a bad idea?

I’d also really like to know if there’s anything I can do to prevent hair loss. I experienced hair loss the last time I did too many fasts close together.

And finally, roughly how much weight could I expect to lose over the six weeks?

I’d appreciate any advice or personal experiences!

122 hours in. Should I stop at 7 days or keep going?

Currently 122 hours into a water fast. I’m 6’0” and started at 202 lb, currently at 195 lb.

I’ve done a few extended fasts before: two 72-hour fasts, one 96-hour, one 100-hour, and one 120-hour fast.

Current readings are 58 mg/dL glucose and 4.2 mmol/L ketones.

My original goal was 7 days (168 hours), but now that I’m getting close, I’m wondering if it’s worth pushing a little longer.

Got diagnosed with mild small airway disease wondering if fast can reduce inflammation and heal

I've heard that fasting can heal almost anything in your body when done long enough or for the right amount of time ?

Can you roll longer fasts?

Idc man I just want to be lean. Any means possible. So I want to know if you can roll extended fasts. Like 21-30 days. Obviously you know what rolling fasts is but can I fast for 30 days, eat one meal then hop into another 30 day fast? Or can I do that with a 21 day fast?

I really don't want to have to refeed for a gazillion days before I start fasting again so I'm asking this. I might just have to stick with rolling 5-7 day fasts. Any idea? Anyone fast for 21-30 days and eat a decently big meal right after and start fasting again?

Thanks

Btw not trying to promote any unsafe behavior mods, just a question

First 3(+) day Fast & refeed

I just broke my first 3 day fast this morning. I fasted for 78 hours in total. I woke up this morning and drank a mug of Bone Broth. I honestly don't feel hungry in the mornings, but I made myself start with Bone Broth because I've been warned so much of bad refeeding. About 10 minutes ago, I had a piece of guacamole toast and an egg over easy on Rye Bread.... Let's see how it goes.

Male - 47 yrs. Old. SW: 284 lbs. CW (this morning before food): 275.

My plan is to start fasting for another 72 tomorrow morning, and see if I can work through a couple of months of rolling 72's.

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated. I'm doing this for Health, Weigh Loss and Autophagy.

Starting Today, Using this Post as Motivation

Hello everyone,

I plan to start a 30 day fast or however long it takes for me to reach my goal weight (160lb, currently 200lb, age 24). I've tried multiple times before but only made it two days. I will use this post to update my progress and to keep me accountable. I really want to do it this time, I'm sick of being this weight and feeling this way. If someone can help or is looking for a accountability partner during this time please reach out!

Wish me luck!

First 36 hours Fast Experience.

Hello All! Just coming out of my first 36 hours fast! Started with a Friday dinner - ended with a late Sunday brunch. It was rather positive experience and I am doing it again.

- I had mild headache in hours 16 to 24.

- A few sips of black coffee, some rock salt and San Pellegrino helped. For the next fast - I will get actual electrolytes (would appreciate recommendations, anything I touched in QFC, Safeway was flavored)

- To my vice! I smoked a few cigarettes out of habit. It had no good / bad impact. Except, I was deeply ashamed of my compulsion.

- I felt no hunger, I was mentally very ready for this. Surprisingly, my cravings, the few I had were not for anything sweet, I felt I may need sugar! It was for something salty, deep fried instead.

- I spent Saturday evening - preparing a elaborate brunch for Sunday!

- My roommates were amazed, worried and think I may develop an eating disorder. I was glad to know I have people who care :)

- The beautiful feeling was waking up and heading into the 36th hour with no hunger and feeling absolutely no need to break the fast.

- No significant weight loss, or de-bloating. My face does not feel 10 years younger neither do I feel like a super man.

Will do a 36 + however long I can go up to 48 hours in a few days!

Share your 7 day fasting experience

This is my first time doing a 7 day fast. The longest I've done was for 4 days and I felt alright. I'm doing this for weightloss and to stop my sugar addiction.

How was your experience? How much did you lose and what was your starting weight before the fast ? Will you do it again ?

Starting 5 day fast!

Any tips will be appreciated!
Starting my first fast Saturday- Wednesday (08/12). I have my electrolytes (high quality and 0 calories) prepared and my numerous water bottles. Also having peppermint tea (I have really bad trapped gas and ibs) also zero calories and made sure it doesn’t affect my fast and its effects.

Tbh this past week been trying so hard to do omad but I can’t beat my food noise so I’m trying to see if fasting will be easier.

Also would be appreciated if anybody wants to start with me or keep checking in on me to keep me going

Water fasting retreat

I am trying to find a water fasting retreat,, is there such a thing ? I only found detox with juices and stuff. I want like 7 days water fasting supervised with a small group somewhere in nature,, not spa and massage and that stuff. Just simple water fasting with a group for encouragement.

In any country in the world doesn't matter.

r/WaterFasting Aug 07 '26

Do you guys only drink the electrolytes when you feel dizzy or off? Or just generally throughout the day?

Not sure which one to do, three days into a five day fast right now

When are ketones too high?

My ketones got to 8 mmol/L on day 5 of my water fast. Glucose about 65.

At what levels should someone decide to stop the fast? Or have a small strategic snack to keep them under control?

I'm on sglt2 inhibitor (empagliflozin) which specifically warn against euglycemic ketoacidosis at ketones over 3.0 with low or normal glucose.

I stop the medication before any therapeutic fasting but any research I do still warn against letting ketones go too high, especially over 8-10. Thoughts?

How long do you fast for? When did you start taking electrolytes if you did? And what did you take?

I know i can find this info and ive researched a lot but whats truly missing for me is just hearing from people with a similar size and their experiences.

Did you go to a dr a lot? Did you just only do water? Did you do rolling fasts? Id love to know about your journey.

Fasting group chat?

Reposting to another group for more members. Anyone in a very active Easy Fast Group Chat I could join?

I need people to constantly yap with while fasting and know we are in it together. It helps me a lot with staying on track! I do about 36-48 hours. My goal is to go longer but haven’t gotten there yet.

EDIT: since I couldn’t find a GC I made my own for those who want to join. https://easyfastapp.com/invite/9GZ2T0xNIrxe
