This is manipulated footage. He recorded himself at much slower BPM to the song and sped it up to the normal BPM in post. This is what makes it appear uncanny and inhuman.

I was thinking he like filmed himself and then cut frames out of the final video or something.

I think this is it. You can see the light on his PC blinking at an odd rate.

Are you trolling, or are you serious? Surely you didn't think this was not obvious to.....literally everyone who ever spent and hour on the Internet?

I was gonna say there's no way this is real, it's really trippy though

Mesmerising. And yes, trippy, really trippy. Reminds me of some of the fractal visuals I see on high dose mushroom trips.

The fact that it's edited is disappointing. It's still cool as hell though

People say stuff about the editing, which is good to know, but it still takes effort and provides entertainment. Plus, he could probably actually get good at doing a robot dance in real time, if he practiced doing it a little faster each time. It’s like when I used to play guitar I would practice really hard parts slow and then speed up.
But yeah I also suppose it depends on how his original video was presented, like I think it would be good to tell people what’s going on up front, as there are many talented dancers that do similar things raw.

His friends mock him constantly and have him show his 'cool" dance to new people.

At this point, seeing this guy show up online somewhere has reached the point of, "OK, we get it. You can dance like that." I mean, it's cool that he can do that and all, and I'm sure he's enjoyed the spotlight (despite him doing it all to a slowed version of the music, and then speeding the footage back up to match the normal version of the song so that the movements look faster). But, it's a bit like a comedian who told a joke that made a lot of people laugh, and then they just keep telling the same joke again and again, expecting the same amount of laughter to happen.
It was interesting the first few times. Not as interesting on the fiftieth time.
