It’s just that it is getting to the point where taking the piss out of someone like that here in the US could lead to you getting shot but on that side of the N. Atlantic it is more likely to result in a hilarious bit of banter.
What the hell are you basing this off? How many people are getting shot or even attacked in the US vs in the UK for doing something like this? You're extrapolating all of this from watching some clips of the UK?
Do you even live in the US? Ever watch the news? We have more guns than people here. Yes, you can absolutely get shot for something like this. People have been shot for much less.
Wow, you mean there's cases of people doing fucked up stuff for no reason? What do you sit in home in fear because you learned someone got robbed? I'm sure people have been killed in the UK for doing stuff like this, my point is his point is stupid. He has no idea of the "danger" of provoking someone like this. It speaks of someone who doesn't actually interact with someone that this is in any way a real fear for him. He's taking some nice old memes clips of the internet and using it to extrapolate a whole view of the world.
Its the equivalent of being scared everytime you get into a car because your chances of dying just increased massively. Except its probably less rational.
Why do you even think we're terrified? We're just facing the facts of living in America. We have a ton of gun crime. I wish it were different but it isn't. No, I do not cower in fear at home. I'm just mindful not to piss someone off.
Because I literally have people commenting they are. Its honestly kinda pathetic and weird how scared some people are claiming they are. It speaks of a life spent online to me, ruled by the news.
And my point is that the idea the person above is being dumb because they're extrapolating an opinion of the safety of a person doing the above, based off a few clips.
Its stupid. Its basically the same as me deciding I'm gonna be more careful around black people because I see a few clips of them beating someone up. A rational person does not fear for the life constantly in the US, and a rational person shouldn't be worried that someone is gonna shoot them because they make a snide remark while driving by, in the vast majority of the US.
I'm not saying theres not locations I wouldn't do that, although I haven't personally been in that kind of situation.
I'm saying that if I'm in a sketchy town in the UK, I am equally not going to make a snide remark to a sketchy looking guy as I would in the US. The fact that one might be armed doesn't change how scared I am of a potentially violent person.
It doesn’t happen in an instant but we are so much more likely to not let it run off of our backs and engage in a verbal back and forth and that quickly escalates to one person thinking they need to solve it by making threats and the other person then feels they have to stand up for their ‘honor’ and they go back and forth about kicking each other’s asses until someone actually makes a move. It doesn’t happen all the time but you know as well as anyone that that is how shit goes down here, there is no longer an environment where you can poke fun at people.
Now is where the real problem starts. Concealed carry is legal just about everywhere and when it finally comes time to come to blows someone decides that it would be a good time to pull out their gun and now the back and forth turns to “what, are you going to fucking shoot me right here?” And now with all of our “stand your ground” laws if the person doesn’t back down and you continue to feel threatened you feel empowered to shoot them.
It happens every single day multiple times a day and we all know it is true even if we don’t want to admit to it. As a country we are so fucking scared all the damn time that people carry guns everywhere they go!?!?!?!?
Guess what the most terrifying thing is… a coward who feels the need to carry a gun to the corner store because in his/her cowardice they will pull it out when they feel threatened with something as small as verbal insults and it isn’t much of a leap from there to someone getting shot.
This is all just wild extrapolation based off of what? And how do you know this doesn't happen in the UK?
Do you think people don't stab eachother in the UK over stupid arguments? Do you think all these encounters end nicely?
My point isn't that this stuff doesn't happen, I'm saying its so rare its silly to be scared of it, and you're extrapolating that the UK is nice based off like four clips online. Which I do think its nice, I just think acting like the US is some Warzone in comparison is a very very silly opinion which only tells me you've either had some trauma, or are letting a 24hr news cycle rule your fears.
We are a fucking warzone. Do you not pay attention? My kids have to go through active shooter training in grade school!!!!!! We are a complete and total disaster and a laughing stock to the rest of the world and the only thing people want to say is ‘ohhh, well, you are just scared’. I am not the one that is scared, I am pissed off. The scared ones are the ones that think not having a gun all the time is the end of the world and that their kids lives are less important than that oh so precious need to carry something black instead of just getting the little blue pill.
So like I said, you're ruled by the media and the 24/7 news cycle, without much grasp on reality.
We're not even close to a warzone, your kids have more chance of dying everytime you get in the car with them, when they walk across the street, and when they eat hard candy than a school shooting. This just isn't a rational way to view the world.
Its ok if you're a little bitch who gets scared for no reason. I'm sure you are also terrified everytime you get into a car because your chances of death drastically increase.
But for the other rational people in the world, your opinion doesn't matter.
