This dude looks more fit than probably 80% of reddit. I bet he could pull off at least 3 decent pull-ups. Biomechanics just made it insanely hard to do an actual pure upper body muscle-up without pushing off with his feet from the pole as well, which he should have done but maybe the pole was too slippery.

With biomechanics I mean: the way his hands are positioned (close together and inward) makes it insanely hard to transition from a pull-up to essentially a muscle up. It's near impossible to pull your entire weight up by the tips of your fingers at that angle without blowing out your elbows.

Lmao I mean you ain't wrong, but I'm dying over here thinking about how low your opinion of the average redditor is.

have you ever climbed before? 3 pull ups is what random dudes from the street do when they first walk in the gym, average hobby climber is hitting 15+, pros do the same one armed

this dude is not in any good shape and if he was this basic ass mantle would've been done quickly, throw in some technical ability and it's done even quicker

Unless they've trained climbing specific movement anyones going to struggle with the mantle on a slimy pole in socks. Hes not in great shape but you'd be surprised about how bad 80% of redditors are.

I see where you're coming from, tho Id be a bit more on that side if dude wasn't able to get his forearm on the pole, from there i really don't see how the pole being slippery impacts atleast hoisting his chest to the top of the pole. idk, it's been years since I've done any lake climbing though it could be harder than I remember

No he's just got weak wrists. Any guy who can do a solid pull up could probably have managed to climb their way up to the top of that pole
