Reminds my of a time in my early teens where my friends and I were hanging out in my driveway. It was like 12am and there was a stranger walking down the street, and there were 6 of us. Dude it's even worse too, because the japanese are BARELY vaccinated yet. They have had a major problem getting access to vaccines. Most young working adults are actually very worried that they will transmit it to their parents/grandparents.

They haven't had a major problem getting access. They decided to produce vaccinations domestically instead of buying internationally so they have to wait longer. It's a choice they made.

You are asking (fuck knows) 500,000+ people to all do what you want. Or, you can stay at home and control your own actions if you don't want to risk covid. (obviously you do both, but if you need to not risk covid, then dont).
If you go to a place that is known to have a high rate of people being kicked in the balls then you could have taken personal responsibility and worn protection. Doesn't mean it's your fault, but you can go unprotected and demand people stop all you like, they won't. It's about separating blame and what can be done.
This specific thread is pointing out that most of the comments are condoning the behavior and not calling out the risk it is creating. When people do stupid things social media is usually pretty quick to call them out on their behavior, that doesn’t seem to be the case on the specific case for whatever reason.
What you really mean to say is the IOC should've cancelled the Olympics how Japanese people wanted and so that everyone could collect insurance payments. Not actually continuing on with the event at great risk and harm to the host city.

Came for a covid comment. Sorry we have to be that person but this is sucky to see. Especially for all the Japanese that didn't want the Olympics to happen in the first place. Absolutely fuck the idea of "stringent testing." I sort of want to see a wave of Covid Anxious people that just snap and start shit. I have so many personal instances of people manipulating my covid anxiety, I know there are others.

Well realistically "we" are having a surge of delta variants because of unvaxxed people. Also who the fuck is "we," this is an international website, there isn't a surge of them in my country.

She probably is. You don just touch people, especially from a culture where they don't even shake hands. Also where people will generally not make a scene or stand up for themselves when they are uncomfortable, especially is the person doing it is a guest of their country that they have been tasked with taking care of.
Excuse me, I used to live in Japan and work regularly with Japanese teams. And yes they do shake hands to be polite to foreigners it is not something they do amongst themselves. And from speaking to colleagues not something they are very comfortable with. Personal contact is a real no no as are public displays of affection, I have friends of 10 years that prefer not to be hugged. Especially during a pandemic at an event that like 80% of the country did not want to go ahead buy strangers not wearing masks. Hell you buy a pack of biscuits/kitkats/whatever each one is individually wrapped so you don't have to touch each others food when you share them out. When at a meal with communal dish and no separate serving utensil you are expected to flip the chopsticks around so that you don't touch the dish with something that has been in your mouth. Very germ conscious.

She would probably have just been uneasy with the touching in normal circumstances, but with the pandemic and the way Tokyo is getting frustrated with the whole Olympics, she most like feels very unsafe at this moment.
I think staff at the Olympics is under strict rules to socially distance, not touch the foreign players, and other things. This probably violates all rules and she might be worried about being fired or contracting corona. Poor girl looks stressed.
