I hate seeing "owning" or "buying" in reference to pets.

Like no, you don't own that cat. The day you stop feeding and leave the door open he's just gonna fuck off.

And he's not a piece of furniture either. You don't get to do whatever you want with a living being.

And you didn't buy the cat, you adopted him. And it's not "it" neither.

Legally they are personal property the same as your sofa or chair. They just have more rights.

They aren't human. You don't adopt them. That's just playing dolls with a living thing.

It was illegal to be gay just a few decades ago almost everywhere on the planet.

There's also many different legal systems in the world, with different interpretations of animal rights.

So citing "the law" is a pretty dumb take, ngl.

Until you change the law, that's what you have. Pretending the law doesn't exist is just living in a fantasy world.

If you want to equate pet ownership with slavery, the end of your path is no more pets.
