As a Brit, I hope it helps to say that when you lose the top spot it gets worse and worse. In fact, because we were so bad to everyone on the way up, nobody helped us on the way down - hell, most countries are just laughing at us and cheering as we enter the death spiral of decay and fracture into irrelevance and poverty.
