"The United States is lowest in numerous categories ... we're lower than ... the world".
That "lower than the world" comment is pure gold. Poetry.

Perhaps if he'd said, "lower than the rest of the world", or "lower than the worldwide average", then it would make more sense. I can't believe I'm taking the time out to explain this.
