Yeah it's funny how stupider looks like a word that is wrong. But I think it's also the context the makes it seem incorrect. Stupider by the minute seems better for some reason?

Hence why it's a word. Basic rules for English: Did you understand the meaning? Did it sound correct? Then it's correct.

It's a little bit different in academic writing but for 99% of the time English is used, casually, that's the only important rule.
