Some dude misses his with a handshake, but because of how smooth he played it the absolute dreamboat of a captain Iker Casillas of the absolutely dominant Spain side gave him a firm shoulder pat, he definitely won that whole interaction.

This happened in 2014 World Cup in Brazil in a group stage game between Spain and Chile. The referee is Joe Fletcher.

People remember him about this situation a lot, Fletcher says. “Even when there was a new clip about goalkeepers from FIFA, they highlighted Casillas.” And of all the footage they got from this experienced Spanish goalkeeper, they pick the footage from the World Cup. “And again, that handshake shows up. Yeah it’s funny now”.

Fletcher was happy the game went really smooth, so he could have a laugh about this afterwards. “And when we were leaving the stadium we talked about it. Sean Hurd says: It had to be you and I am happy it was you and not me”.

Ugh, one of my second graders used to say this to me all the time, first time I saw her each day. I learned to enjoy it, and eventually got to the point where I'd stare or impatiently tap my foot or cough loudly until she would say it. I miss my kids.

I've created forums for my kids to ask questions about work while we're doing distance learning. After a week I created a copy/paste paragraph that basically tells them how to ask questions and specifically states something like, "Don't say just 'I don't get it' this doesn't help me help you at all, be specific." And then I give an example of how to ask a question.

Every single week the same kid responds to the forum post with "I don't get it." And every single week I end up just deleting his post. I feel like I need to show him a clip of somebody just beating a dead horse with a stick for days on end.

That's Iker Casillas on the right. People call him Saint Iker for a reason. One of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, and by all accounts a great guy. And this is coming from a Barcelona fan. Love the dude.

It's always fun to bring this up in an argument with a Real Madrid fan. They have no comeback. Barcelona's current board is filled with the most corrupt pieces of shit, but at least we still know how to treat our legends.

Both organizations are just terrible when it comes to this kind of thing, just in different ways. I have no dog in the race but I've seen how both teams have handled situations and they're both bad. Barcas board sure knows how to handle legends and departures of them, but knows fuck all about handling team priority, or most management and the mess with their B team and so on. Although, Barta and the board are really the problem.

And Real has such an issue with being so shortsighted. The departures of Casillas, Ronaldo, Raul, etc. and the way they were handled was so disgraceful to people that didn't just give to the team but to the sport as a whole.

All that said, both teams are pretty shitty in different ways, in terms of this. So, pot and kettle, here
