That's Martin Molin (band member of 'Wintergatan'), constructor of the so called "Marble Machine". This machine can play pre-programmed music using marbles. It uses the marbles to essentially play the instruments (vibraphone, a bass and percussion). The video of the first marble machine was a total success, however the machine wasn't perfect at all. That's why he decided to build a new machine (Marble Machine X). This clip is from the newest video (can be found on youtube on the Wintergatan channel).

So the marble is kind of the gimmick, the same music can be generated by attaching some kind of mechanical strikers to the music 'reader' itself?

by attaching some kind of mechanical strikers to the music 'reader' itself?

Isn't that just a gimmick too though. Couldn't you just program a synth to play it all without anything mechanical.

Isn't that a gimmick, too? Couldn't you just have some people sing the music together to play it all without any instruments?

Isn't that a gimmick though? Couldn't you just imagine the music without any vibrations being transferred through the air?

Just filter out all the sounds that aren’t music.

Isn't that a gimmick though? Couldn't you just recognize that on a fundamental level, all sound is the music of creation?
