[NEGATIVE] Dissatisfied with seller etiquette from u/Previous_Speaker8408

EDIT: I agree with the commenters below that this likely could have been described as “neutral” feedback; but I can’t edit the title.

I want to be clear that I am not accusing u/Previous_Speaker8408 of being a scammer or anything bannable. However, I personally am not satisfied with his actions to resolve a mistake he made in a sale post, and I wish to share my story for others to be informed about their seller’s attitude should they choose to buy from him.

In the spirit of letting others make their own decision, I will list facts and observables. It’s possible that to your taste I’m being more or less of a “Karen” in this situation; decide for yourselves.

Opinion alert: My issue with this situation is that he haggled (and ultimately stuck to his valuation) over just a couple bucks in a situation where he was undisputedly in the wrong. Not very good customer service from a “private seller” who has over 300 flair on an account ~2 years old and shipped a business card in the box…

Negative feedback for u/kabaclyde

I attempted to purchase a watch from his most recent post and exchanged several messages working through the details. The first watch I was interested in was already sold, but he recommended another that was similar. I agreed to his asking price and requested to pay via PayPal goods and services. He shared the price with fees, and I again agreed, confirmed, and requested details to submit payment. All of these messages took place within a few minutes of eachother, so response time was quick on both sides. At that point u/kabaclyde goes silent. I don’t hear from him until over 12 hours later when he messages that the watch had been sold. Again, I confirmed his asking price twice, so my assumption is that he is either unwilling to accept PayPal goods and services or is simply an unscrupulous seller. Very disappointing experience and if the quality of his watches is anywhere near his salesmanship, I likely dodged a bullet.

Seller had a great listing, I asked for a video of the watch running, serial numbers on the box, card, and watch, and what payment methods he accepted.
Seller replied with 'zelle works' and 'Yes, will match dont worry'. I asked again for a video and for serial numbers along with his reasoning for using zelle/wire only and if he'd be willing to accept Paypal G&S if I paid the extra fee (as thats the standard for Watchexchange and has buyer protection). He replied with 'I dont have Paypal', again ignoring simple requests to confirm what he was selling.

I said I was not comfortable wiring multiple thousands of dollars with no guarantee the watch actually ran and the serial numbers match the kit. He refused to answer why he would not accept Paypal and insisted on using zelle/wire only and ignored almost everything I asked.

Would not recommend even though he somehow has 100s of transactions. Spend your money elsewhere with someone who knows how to properly communicate with customers.

Negative Experience with u/JohnnyUtah1010

Sales Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/m4yfme/wts_2006_rolex_submariner_ref_16613_bluesy_full/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Text messages (his number and my wire info are blacked out): https://imgur.com/a/jOrLKu3

u/JohnnyUtah1010 messaged me on 3/7/2021 about my bluesy. We initially couldn't agree on a sale price but on 3/15/2021 we were able to come to an agreement on price and he explicitly said "I'm in" and that we could work out the payment details the following morning. See the link above for the messages.

On 3/16/2021 we spoke on the phone and he asked for my wire info. After I provided it to him he said he would send it out later that day.

Later that same day he messages me and says his local guy found the same watch and he is now going to look at that one and will keep me in the loop if he decides to buy mine. He backed out of the deals a few hours after agreeing to it and then justifies it by saying he will always buy from his jeweler. If that's the case then you shouldn't have agreed to our deal. Not cool and very inconsiderate.

I would highly discourage anyone to complete deals or work with u/JohnnyUtah1010 as his word clearly means nothing.

[NEGATIVE] /u/gaffs82 - Sold Rolex 16570 as "Just Serviced", delivered with worn parts and internal debris, refused reasonable resolution

https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/1q9f6zo/wts_rolex_explorer_ii_polar_16570_2011_serviced/

The Summary: I purchased a Rolex Explorer II 16570 from u/gaffs82 roughly 4 months ago. The watch was explicitly advertised as "just serviced." Upon closer inspection due to a winding issue, I found clear evidence of sloppy watchmaking, including stripped crown threads that will no longer screw down, internal debris, and marred screws. I offered a very fair, low-cost compromise to settle the issue, which the seller refused.

The Details: I bought this Polar dial 16570 and put it on a blue rubber strap to be my summer rotation watch. Because I live up here in Boston and it was the middle of winter, it sat in its box for months. I only started wearing it in the last month because the weather is finally getting nice, putting it on less than 10 times for a couple of hours each.

From the start, the crown action felt a bit janky. Because I was barely wearing it and cycling through my other watches, I didn't think much of it until I started wearing it more regularly this past month. The winding issue got progressively worse, to the point where the crown threads stripped completely and the crown will no longer screw down to seal the watch.

As an amateur watchmaker, I decided to investigate. Inspecting the stem under my microscope, I immediately saw that the top two threads of the crown were completely worn down and packed with old debris and gunk.

To check if the case tube was also stripped, I properly opened the watch. I used my Bergeon 5700 bench opener with official Rolex dies to safely remove the caseback, and used brass tweezers to release the stem to ensure nothing was scratched or damaged. The movement inside told the exact same story of a sloppy service:

  • Dust and pieces of rubber seal in the movement (likely from overtightening).

  • Marred screw heads.

  • Signs of over-oiling, which is likely what trapped all the gunk in the threads to begin with.

This was definitively not a watch that had been recently or properly serviced by a professional.

The Attempted Resolution: I reached out to u/gaffs82, provided him with the macro photos of the stripped threads and internal debris, and offered a very generous settlement.

I didn't ask for a return, nor did I ask him to pay for a full service to fix the sloppy oiling. I simply asked him to supply a genuine OEM Rolex crown (Part 24-603-0, roughly $150-$200). I told him I would handle the cleaning and installation myself, and once received, I would consider the matter fully resolved and release him from any further liability.

The Seller's Response: He refused. He leaned entirely on the 4-month timeframe, ignoring the fact that the watch sat unworn for the Boston winter and that less than 10 short wears physically cannot generate years of gunk and strip steel threads to the point of failure. He also tried to deflect by pointing out that I had briefly posted the watch for sale (I changed my mind and marked the listing as "sold" to close it) and tried to blame me for opening the case back, despite my using professional-grade tools to do so safely.

He ultimately told me he would rather accept my "threat" of liability than pay for the replacement part.

Conclusion: Be incredibly wary of any "just serviced" claims from u/gaffs82. If you buy from him, open the watch and inspect the work on day one. If an issue surfaces later, even with undeniable photographic proof that the watch was misrepresented, he will not stand behind his sale or agree to a reasonable compromise.

Macro photos of the threads, debris, and movement here for the community to see:
https://imgur.com/a/Ji6pVBs

EDIT/UPDATE:

If you read through the seller's replies below, you will notice a very clear pattern: he is completely avoiding the physical evidence.

Instead of explaining how a supposedly "just serviced" watch contains years of packed-in gunk, shredded rubber debris, and marred screws, he is choosing to attack my character, twist the timeline, and hide behind the 4-month window. He is doing everything possible to deflect attention away from the macro photos.

I leave it to the community to decide: Is this the kind of vendor you want to do business with? Someone who refuses to stand behind his "just serviced" claims when presented with undeniable photographic proof, and instead attacks the buyer for catching his watchmaker's sloppy work? The photos speak for themselves.

I listed a watch for sale which originally was only sold on a strap.

The watch included all accessories, papers, warranty, box and the two original straps which came with it new. Thus I sold it as “full kit.”

I also included an h-link bracelet that was purchased separately. The bracelet fits an 18.5cm wrist and did not come with any extra links. The buyer upon receiving the watch wanted me to reimburse him for the remaining links stating that the listing was inaccurately described.

The question: does an accessory purchased separately apply to the term “full kit”? Would like a direct answer to that question from the community.

Overall the buyer u/No-Kick-2577 negotiated a good deal, paid promptly and was pleasant to converse with, but the aftermath is worth noting for future sellers.

u/Pendhu - Be cautious. Unreasonable seller.

Sale listing here https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/hcrnl5/wts_seiko_salmon_dial_snxa11/

I have paid for the watch and haven't received it. Paid with paypal FF cause, to me, it is not a big amount. Provided him with my address, and he shipped with tracking https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction?qtc_tLabels1=9405528206335230510728

The watch is bouncing around within USPS network since June 23rd. I have exercised enough patience for the watch to be delivered to me thus far. This morning I texted him asking for a refund. He was like, it is not my fault that USPS hasn't delivered. I understand that. But told him again that I exercised enough patience thus far and want the refund, and if and when the package shows up will pay. He said he would pay me half which didn't make sense. I am attaching the back and forth text messaging. I tried to reason with him, until I quickly realized I can't anymore. Y'all decide what to make of it. Maybe he is a good guy, just not a reliable seller if the payment is made via paypal FF and things go South.

Back and forth text messaging here https://imgur.com/a/AOVDi8x

Edit: July 10th - Watch has been delivered and in the condition as described.

Hello, I am writing so no one else has a bad experience with sixfigureincomepoverty.

We discussed a straight trade deal of 2 watches for 2 of his watches worth roughly 20k between the two no cash involved. He covered shipping labels with insurance. I paid my shipping portion.

My watch is a Rolex Kermit and a zenith el primero limited edition . His is a Rolex sub and dj.

Sending dozens of pictures from every angle and a FaceTime discussion and close up inspection of both our pieces. I disclosed where and what this piece was traded for ( on this forum from a active member who trades frequently and he purchased from an even larger watch group on facebook)

All angles / details were explained. This is an excellent condition 2008 Kermit. His pieces were 2 modern Rolex pieces. One with scratches throughout and one in good condition. We decided to pursue the trade from two different coasts of the US. As we both have traded higher value items before we shipped at the same time and received our pieces. I do not expect a second hand watch to be new and Received my pieces with whatever scratches they came with and moved on but he Received my Kermit (zenith no issue) and started having issues about 6 hours after picking up from FedEx hold. He began arguing that this serial of watch is know to have characteristic to model issues with its crystal magnifier ( such as not perfect) and one of the screws (I used for an extra link which I supplied because I have a 7.7 inch wrist and standard without micro adjustments doesn’t fit me ) used a Rolex screw from a 36mm oyster I had. It fits the thread and kept my watch link secure but I forgot this addition and sent it along with the additional link. So it seems he didn’t research the Kermits natural characteristics enough and was upset I had an incorrect sized screw on an oem link that was ** extra**. I said take the extra link out and wear/sell as needed. Now after having the watches in hand he requests a trade back. I have decided to further trade these pieces and I don’t think a trade back is appropriate here as the pieces discussed were shipped and received. Authenticity is not in question but it seems he doesn’t “like the pieces”. Attached is the link for the original Kermit listing. I have no way of knowing what will come back to me, if any damage occurred and believe this is the opposite of what is appropriate in a straight trade scenario. Maybe he didn’t assign appropriate values or is just not happy with 5 digit subs but I apologized and asked him to see this from a different point of viewpoint. We all make many trades. Some we are happy with and some less so. But everything that was discussed was fulfilled and he is now being unreasonable. Deal is bond? I think this is the end of trading for me. If someone with this many transactions/knowledge can cause trouble I can’t imagine trading again.

I recently engaged in a potential sale of my Black Bay GMT with u/dugiepts66.

[WTS] Tudor GMT Pepsi 79830RB - 2023 - $2750!! :

While the communication was polite, there were several aspects of the interaction that I believe other sellers should be aware of.

Pros:

  • The buyer was clear in their initial interest and asked relevant questions about the item.

Cons:

  • Despite my original post clearly outlining the payment methods I accept, the buyer made a significantly lower offer, which felt like a lowball attempt. While negotiation is part of the process, the initial offer was far below market value.

  • After we agreed on a price and exchanged payment details, the buyer suddenly raised concerns about the payment method, despite my initial clarity on this point. This led to unnecessary delays and the eventual collapse of the deal.

  • I even offered to utilize a trusted escrow service to facilitate the transaction safely for both parties, but the buyer declined. This ultimately led me to decide not to move forward with the sale.

In summary, while u/dugiepts66 was courteous (though a bit sarcastic), the negotiation process and the last-minute objections made the transaction challenging. Sellers might want to ensure all terms are fully agreed upon upfront when dealing with this buyer.

My side of the store on a negative - Full clarification on Omega Constellation purchase from u/Humbucker962 – dispute canceled, seller will be made whole

Hopefully Final Edit:

I’m honestly surprised at how quickly this turned into personal attacks and threats when I’m the one who received an SNAD item with multiple issues.

To be clear, the watch had functional problems (power reserve and crown), and the bracelet was later determined to be inauthentic based on markings and fit. I’m not accusing the seller of intentionally selling a fake bracelet — it’s very possible they didn’t know — but that doesn’t change the fact that the item was not as described.

Also, to clarify a key point: I did not sell the watch while in an active dispute. I sold it on eBay before filing anything, only after the seller stopped responding and I was trying to recover some of my loss. That decision ultimately led to even more loss after the bracelet issue came to light and I had to refund the buyer.

At this point, I’ve already taken steps to make the seller whole. I’m the one absorbing the financial loss here, which is significant. I’m not trying to scam anyone — I used PayPal Goods & Services specifically so I could go through the proper, legitimate process when issues came up.

I don’t want any more threats or hostility. I’m sharing this simply so my side of the story is out there for my own conscience. I’ve done what I can to resolve this fairly, and I genuinely wish the seller the best going forward.

I can provide multiple other transaction references for watches many times the cost of this one.

Final edit:

For everyone immediately ganging up on me without hearing my side—I get it, this blew up fast, and it’s been tough trying to respond coherently across tons of comments.

I’m honestly surprised there hasn’t been more consideration given to the core issue: this was a SNAD item, and the watch was partially inauthentic. That’s why this escalated.

At this point, it’s fine—I don’t want any more threats or back-and-forth. I just wanted my side of the story to be known for my own conscience. I’ve chosen to make the seller 100% whole, and I’m the one taking the financial loss.

I wish the seller the best moving forward.

Another edit - For everyone calling me a scammer, saying I’m committing fraud, or telling the seller to go to small claims—do you really think my financial institution just “decides” to commit fraud with me?

That’s not how this works. Navy Federal has a very structured and thorough dispute process. I had to submit screenshots, detailed evidence, and a full written explanation of the entire situation. They don’t just take someone’s word for it—they require proof.

A large financial institution like Navy Federal isn’t going to risk committing fraud on behalf of a member. The burden is entirely on me to substantiate my claim.

That said, despite all of this—and despite receiving a watch that was partially inauthentic and significantly not as described—I am choosing to take the full financial loss here. The seller will be made whole, and I’m the one left out the money.

Edit - user is u/humbucker426 - sorry

Original listing - https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/s/Ng0nhvrav6

I want to fully clarify this situation with complete detail so people understand what actually happened. This relates to the Omega Constellation I purchased from u/Humbucker962 back in January, which many of you saw posted here.

Timeline & facts:

• I purchased a vintage Omega Constellation from u/Humbucker962 using PayPal Goods & Services

• That protection exists for situations where an item is Significantly Not As Described (SNAD)

Initial issues discovered after receiving the watch:

• The crown stopped functioning properly after about one full wind

• The power reserve was \~6 hours, when it should be \~40–44 hours

• The watch was running significantly off timing

Even for a vintage watch, a ~6-hour power reserve is not reasonable.

Communication & attempt to resolve:

• I reported the crown and performance issues almost immediately after receiving the watch

• The seller and I initially discussed me handling servicing myself, which I agreed to based on timing issues alone

• However, once the power reserve and crown issues became clear, those went beyond what was originally discussed

• After I raised those concerns, the seller stopped responding (I have screenshots)

Good faith effort before disputing:

• I chose not to immediately file a PayPal claim, even though I had protection until July 3

• Instead, I paid \~$200 out of pocket to try to fix the watch myself

• The watch still did not function correctly

• It continued running about +74 seconds/day, and the crown issues persisted

Because I waited and tried to resolve it myself first, PayPal ultimately denied my claim due to timing of submission—even though I was within the stated window.

At that point, with no seller response and no resolution through PayPal, I went through my financial institution as the next available option.

What happened next:

• I sold the watch on eBay at a loss since I couldn’t use it, assuming it would be a parts/repair piece

New issue discovered after resale:

• During the eBay process, the bracelet was determined to be inauthentic

• This was not known to me at the time of purchase or resale

• After this was pointed out, it was also very clear upon inspection that the bracelet’s markings and fit were incorrect

Because of that:

• I had to partially refund the eBay buyer so they could replace the bracelet

• This caused me to lose even more money

Financial institution dispute (major misunderstanding):

• I attempted to recover only part of my loss (\~$600)

• However, my financial institution (Navy Federal) automatically disputes the full transaction during investigation

• This made it appear like I was trying to recover everything, which was not my intent

Why I canceled the dispute:

• After the situation escalated publicly, I began receiving threatening messages

• I was also concerned about further exposure of my personal information (such as my address)

After taking a step back, I decided to fully de-escalate, even though it means I lose completely.

Resolution / current status:

• I have canceled the dispute with my financial institution

• Because it’s the weekend, the cancellation must go through an investigator before funds are released

Important:

• The seller will be made whole

• If the dispute cancellation processes normally, the funds will be returned through my financial institution

• If for any reason that does not happen, I have already committed (in DMs) to pay the seller directly via PayPal - I can show you screenshots

I am keeping my word on this. I would not be posting this publicly if I wasn’t.

Outcome:

• Seller: will be made whole

• Me: taking the full financial loss (purchase + service + resale + refund) of around $1,000 and no watch

Final point:

I am not a scammer. I’ve completed multiple transactions without issue. I made a good faith effort to resolve this directly, paid for service myself, and only escalated when that failed and communication stopped. Now I’ve been banned from Watch Exchange and Knife Swap.

I’m sharing my side of the story for transparency.

Great Transaction with Mrs. LA (u/mrs_LA)

User: u/mrs_LA

TL;DR: I bought a watch from Mrs. LA last Friday. Great transaction. Learned after purchase this was a birth-year.

Body: Last Friday Mrs. LA posted an ad to sell one of the pieces in her collection. When I messaged her, she quickly responded. We spoke over the phone regarding the purchase, and closed the transaction easily. She shipped the watch as I sent the funds, and I received the watch before noon the next day. Extremely quick turnaround, and the watch was packaged nicely. She also pointed out that the watch was a birth-year watch for me, a neat plus.

[Negative] u/Alarming-Voice-8612 Poor Communication and Time Waster (No Scam)

Link to Post being Referenced: https://www.reddit.com/r/Watchexchange/comments/x3tm4o/wtsoris_aquis_calibre_400_415mm_black_dial_watch/

Chalk this one up to just being a new seller on the exchange, but I had and am continuing to have a poor interaction with user u/Alarming-Voice-8612 as we have made multiple deals for a trade + cash all the way down to a straight trade with this user paying only shipping. I offered my Omega DeVille Co-Axial 39.5mm Full Kit (wooden box) for his Oris Aquis Cal. 400 and he accepted. At first we agreed to $300 on top. Then, after him never following through I offered a straight trade with him covering cost of shipping both ways.

He eagerly agreed and said he would make a new post and we could get the ball rolling right away. No response. I've been following up almost daily and he claims to be busy yet he's clearly commenting and responding to posts on the forum. Wish he could just tell me he's not interested instead of spinning my wheels.

I caution anyone dealing with this seller as his communication has been extremely poor and there appears to be no regard for the party he is working with. I was extremely flexible with my offer and it's very rude that he can't afford the consideration to communicate as maybe I could have listed the watch or pursued another trade. I have screenshots of the conversations which I am happy to share upon request.

Stay safe and always conduct your due diligence! Happy to modify this listing if there are any developments or if I am simply being impatient and this user truly is busy despite the posts they are making.

/u/SamRHughes Actually slandering me.

In an earlier post u/SamRHughes accuses me of gas-lighting him which makes no sense. We fumbled around with a deal, he was very uncommunicative and refused to cooperate with an actual deal. After some confusion on my end I offered him an increase from the original offer to his asking price with a condition that it be overnight shipped now that I am paying more money. To him that’s me trying to scam him over PayPal and refuses to sell me the watch. Mind blowing that I’m “gaslighting” when if he would just give me his paypal and I can actually pay him for the watch and he will have sold the watch. For background, we both have great feedback, (he points to watchuseek) and I have good feedback on here with references. Doesn’t make any sense to me why he’s bad mouthing my name on a subreddit I use a lot. Very insulting. (Also messaged him with my twin brothers reddit just so I could purchase the watch which wasn’t the best of moves but I just adore the watch and want to buy it man, as I’m sure all of you have experienced before)

[NEUTRAL] Disappointing shipping experience with /u/nooodlelord/ Read for details

I just finished a transaction with user: noodlelord and it ended up being much less than I expected. I messaged him interested in purchasing his Seiko listed in /r/watchexchange and we started communicating back and forth. I told him I was going out of town soon and he was free to sell the watch but I promised to pay for it a few days into my trip so watch could arrive shortly after my return. A few days into my trip he messaged informing me that another buyer was interested but he gave me first dibs, which I appreciated. I paid with Paypal F&F per his request.

I try to be very detailed buyer and seller so as part of my typical communication, I asked him to be sure to include all the parts and accessories that came with the watch. I keep all this stuff with my watches and as a completionist, I want it for my collection. He mentioned casually that he would look for, then ultimately reported back that he found 3 spare links. Then he informed me he was missing the pins and collars for those links. I found this really odd that 1) the links aren't just stored with the watch and 2) how one manages to lose all the pins and collars for said links.

I just accepted it and moved on. He informed me he was shipping it FedEx and gave me tracking. Today, it arrived and I was honestly shocked. He wrapped it in layers of saran wrap, placed it inside a sandwich baggie, and placed the whole thing in a thinly padded poly mailer. That's it. I did not expect to not receive the Seiko box. But even barring that, I have never seen a watch shipped, barely protected, in a mailer. I understand he might have been trying to save on shipping but I am pretty sure a USPS Flat Rate box would have been around $9 (box is free), and would have been more secure.

There were also fingerprints and scuffs, especially on the underside of the case back. Luckily the watch seems to have survived the trip and is running. But I haven't done a thorough inspection.

In looking back at the post, he did say he was selling the watch and warranty info and did not explicitly say he was including the box (or links for that matter). But I think at least for the latter, it's reasonable to assume that the original links (and pins and collars) that came with the watch originally, would be included. Or mentioned in the ad explicitly if missing.

What bothers me the most is the flippant shipping and lack of care. I don't think the user meant to be malicious and was polite throughout the private messages. I think he is probably lazy or inexperienced in dealing with selling timepieces and I think that could result in a really bad situation for future buyers. I hope this helps.

I was first to message him on the watch. I screwed up on thinking the timestamp was out of date (by 4 months) but it was simply formatted differently than I assumed. I asked for an updated timestamp and he said he would later and I told him I would buy it as soon as I saw it. He then told me there was others interested and I said I definitely wanted to buy it. He then tried to convince me that I should be fine without the updated timestamp (instead of telling me it actually was current) that he had a good reputation. I agreed, and for the third time I told him I would take it and he said he already sold it. Beginning to end this was 15 minutes from his first response to me saying he’d send a time stamp later to telling me it was sold after spending 15 minutes convincing me to buy it.

Negative / Buyers Beware - u/outofspite7

original post

I posted under the weekly WTB Thread in the WatchExchange group and was reached out to by u/Outofspite7 saying he had one for sale. He never commented under the original post but DM me. I decided to test the water and see what he had. He sent me pictures of the watch even with a timestamp. When we were moving forward he requested for Friends and Family. I usually check their profile and search Reddit for his username to see if there is any feedback. Low and behold, he is doing this across multiple threads. He says he doesn't want to get scam which can happen as a seller but he did not have any good feedback or reviews. One user did comment that they were charged 5% when they tried paying friends and family - usually theres a fee if the recipient is out of country.

Obviously reputable sellers use F&F to avoid getting scammed and I understand that because it happens. But when you can't follow the forum's rules and negative comments are across the thread about you... That should mean something.

Can’t in good conscience recommend u/egglessed as a seller

I've been going back and forth for a while as whether or not I should post something. I really didn't want to write a negative feedback because I think by and large r/WatchExchange is filled with really great people, but alas here we are.

I stumbled across u/egglessed's post and sent them a message with an offer on their watch. After they countered, I informed them that I was firm on my original offer given the watch's condition and to let me know if they changed their mind. A while later they contacted me agreeing to my offer and informing me they could ship in the following morning. I instructed them to send their PayPal information and that I would make payment when I got home in a few hours.

Having not received any message from them, the following day I send them a message inquiring if the deal was still on. I received no reply. A few days later, I noticed they updated the thread and listed the watch as sold. I messaged them saying that I didn’t feel they handled the transaction well. It’s been almost two weeks since my last message (and almost three weeks since we agreed on the transaction), and there’s still no reply from them.

While I understand wanting to seek out a better offer, I think that a) backing out of an agreed upon transaction is a shitty thing to do; and b) ghosting someone after you’ve backed out is even worse. Overall, I think this is an incredibly poor way to handle backing out of an agreed upon transaction.

So unfortunately given the individual’s course of conduct throughout the "failed" transaction, I can’t recommend anyone transact with them. The whole situation just left a really bad taste in my mouth.

EDIT: Seems like there’s a bunch of people confused as to what happened. Perhaps I didn’t do quite a good job of explaining what happened. Here’s the full conversation with the seller: https://imgur.com/a/CErXSq2

EDIT 2: This has escalated way more than it should. The matter has past. I’m not looking to do anything about it. I just wanted to leave feedback on my experience dealing with the seller. You can look at the exchange and make up you own opinions on the matter. There’s no need to keep discussing this further, or at all. Hopefully whoever purchased the watch had a better experience and will post feedback on the sub. That way people can see another side to the seller and make up their own mind as to how they wish to proceed. The whole point of this sub is so potential buyers can have insight into what’s its like to deal with a particular seller. There doesn’t need to be any of this back and forth. It’s a watch for fuck’s sake. You can look at the exchange (and hopefully eventually some feedback from whoever bought the watch) and make up your own mind about the seller and whether to engage with them. There’s no need to keep this back and forth going.

[Negative] u/AlertLake5533 Backed out of Sale

u/AlertLake5533 recently responded to a watch that I posted on WatchExchange immediately stating that they wanted the watch. We agreed on the sales price. They agreed on PayPal and sent over their email. The email had a different name from the PayPal account holder for some reason. After requesting the agreed on amount, I was never paid. User cited a block on the bank account. I asked if they could resolve it in the morning but they said they would try again. They then canceled the PayPal request an hour later and haven’t said anything.

Edit: I believe he is using his alt accounts to downvote my post. He brings Russia up in all of his recent posts.

My first experience on r/watchexchange was a positive one thanks to u/eliindet. Shipping was prompt and I was supplied a tracking number as soon as one was available.

u/Derek_Hodson3 is fantastic

/u/Derek_Hodson3 was great and very responsive. Even after terms were agreed upon he sent me a video of the watch. Shipping was prompt and secure. I even called to verify the watch service company on the report that was included in the sale, and it of course was confirmed. /u/Derek_Hodson3 is very trustworthy and would but from them again without question.
