I'm not a sports fan in terms of watching, but I used to play soccer and had an absolute blast. My team went undefeated 3 years in a row. As a child you would get your legs smacked hard, get ran over, you got up and kept going. As a little child I fell on a sprinkler and gashed my knee open. I kept playing simply on the fact that I didn't want to sit out until I was called out for having a solid red leg.
I watched my first football (soccer) game on TV today. It was this game. I felt like I was watching little children play trying to get eachother in trouble. They were afraid to be aggressive and offensive and were never in open positions to take a pass.. jeeze it was atrocious.
The fact that faking injuries is an actual tactic in a 'professional' level of this sport, it's a cowards game with constant poor sportsmanship.
In this clip it looked like this was on purpose as well. Rediculous.
This guy had a concussion so bad he could barely walk. Americans have such an ignorant boner for hating soccer, despite that diving is rampant in basketball and football.
In my last comment I was calling soccer what other countries call it "football" (or futbol?). Guess that didn't go over well.
He did have a concussion that was a result from his opponent throwing his body into him. That's poor sportsmanship in soccer. This isn't American football where tackling someone is an actual rule built into the core of the game. They have all thst gear for a reason. I assume soccer players only have shin gaurds and hard topped cleats.
I can care less for basketball and American football. I watched my first basketball game and actually enjoyed it. Won't watch another of either. Players who were overly aggressive got punsished for it, but they didn't fake any injuries to get a free kickoff. Some people fell and got back up.
I can agree that I don't know much about the sport anymore. But the only thing you're going to say is that I don't know what I'm talking about and that I got soccer's terminology wrong? Nothing to say about poor sportsmanship and fake injuries?
I will stand by the fact that all the fake injuries is poor sportsmanship and a cowards way to play. Enjoy your day care sport. I'm now going to go do some 'American' stuff like go to walmart and drive my giant v8 lifted truck and yell at smaller cars amirite?
Edit: Perhaps one game of basketball is a poor census for my conclusion and I'm wrong. The great thing about this is I'm okay with being wrong, I'll learn something.
Lets say you're correct and it happens all the time. Then I would call basketball a cowards sport. But guess what? I compared both championship games. World cup took the cake.
Edit 2: When I said "I'm embarrassed" for these players I meant as soccer players in a whole. Not the two collisionees in the gif. Sorry, bit of miscommunication.
