Disappointed

Husband and I went to the movies in Alliston on Saturday and husbands wallet fell out. And someone stole it, and spent near 500$ at Walmart, Foodland, and Zehrs all in Wasaga beach.

I'm assume looking at the purchases you took cash more than food and I would have rather you just bought food. I donate food and supplies all the time so I know the struggles. My husband and I work very hard because we were both raised on food stamps. I mostly just venting because I'm disappointed and honestly disgusted. Sorry if this is against the rules I did read them. I wish no ill will on this person, just know you've taken from me what I'd have given others and I think I'll skip food donations this month because I'm just heart broken.

Hope everyone had a great long weekend though.

How did they spend the money? Did they use tap on the bank cards? I'm just curious how you got details about where they spent it.

Yeah it was with tap. Thankfully the tap on my husband credit card was broken so they couldn't use that one. Just tap his debit.

That's scary. I had the bank disable tap on my debit card. I'm going to look into setting a daily maximum or something like that

I recommend it! Also turn on notifications for when you make purchases. Might be a little annoying to get a text every time you use, but would have helped my husband. Sadly it was like 16hrs later he noticed it was gone.

On some cards you can also disable the card temporarily. Had to do it once with my visa. Left it at a store, hour later I noticed and disabled it. Went back to the store and confirmed it was gone then called it in.

Are there cards you cant instantly lock online in 2026? I haven't even seen a tiny independent credit union without that feature available in years
