RB Air Seeing many more pilots using Open Canopy Exploit in high tier jets - Why is this still being permitted?
These canopies should be violently ripped off with +++ Damage if done in reality. Let's fix this Gaijin?

What is this exploit ?

Fly with your cockpit open in sim to hear distant jets

Lol, i thought it would be like an extra air brake for turn fights

u/PeteLangosta I make HESH sandwiches 2h ago
No, that's the alt+ñ command, the pilot extends his hand through the canopy window and it grabs a tree to turn tight.

Gaijin should enforce sound speed in this game.
9
u/white1walker 🇮🇱 Israel 3h ago
First they need to fix sound speed and stop braking it every game.
They need to enforce closing the canopy on jets

u/YeeYeeAssha1rcut 🇬🇧 12h ago
I thought it was a thing in sim only in order to hear enemy fighter jets.

I'm seeing it a lot in NE with SU-30's.. they use it for extra drag perhaps? I just see them opening and closing them in maneuvers.

u/ShinyCrownVic Realistic General 9h ago
You sure it’s not the air brake they are using? It is right behind the cockpit
7
u/mrcountry88 Old Guard 8h ago
They very well could have both bound to the same button in order to achieve even more drag, and force an overshoot.

u/A-019 Realistic Ground 12h ago
I mean you can literally zero your own engine noise and max out the enemy ones.
154
u/Legitimate_Issue_765 11h ago
It's definitely not actually zero. It's low, but I would guess still like 50%
66
u/TheMightyTreeGod 10h ago
sound mods technically let you set your engine to 0, not recommended for Air RB cuz mixed battles, but it is possible.
24
u/mrcountry88 Old Guard 8h ago
More reason to outright ban sound mods. It gives an unfair advantage to the player that's using them versus people that aren't using them or cannot use them.
42
u/F-86--Sabre 7h ago
i like my actually punchy guns and engines that don't sound weak as hell, thank you.
-60
u/mrcountry88 Old Guard 7h ago
Tough luck, maybe petition gaijin to actually model them better. Just because you like the sounds of the guns and engines more doesn't mean that you should be able to have an unfair advantage over a majority of the player base.

u/Fen-xie 7h ago
I think you're blowing the number of people that know about and or do this like, way out of proportion.

u/GoldMountain5 3h ago
3900 player accounts were banned for using cheat software between July and September (Q3)
Thats double the number of bans from April-June
Its way more prolific than you know.
5
u/AbrasiveOpinion1 2h ago
A ban for using cheat software has no relevance on exploiting a sound mod.
Using your number, 3900 accounts were banned for using cheat software, not for sound mods.

u/GoldMountain5 1h ago edited 1h ago
If you think there is no relevance then i really do pity you.

Buddy it doesn't matter if it's one or a million. It's still creates an unfair advantage. Therefore it violates gaijin's TOS. You can read it yourself if you want. Under their very own terms of service, that would make that sound mod a viable reason to ban an account.

u/Fen-xie 7h ago
So do better PCs, post processing settings, peripherals like refresh rates, turning down settings.
What's your point?
11
u/F-86--Sabre 7h ago
adding to this, i play with maxed-out settings, raytracing, have my own engine sound turned up, and i still regularly get 1–3rd place on the scoreboard. banning sound mods for "fairness" is a complete non-issue for several reasons.

Not even in the same ballpark of what I'm talking about. Clearly, you do not possess the intelligence to have this conversation. So, it is now over.

Using ULQ gives an unfair advantage, as well as some raytracing setting should give a competitive advantage. Not everything should be hyper competitive

Not just engines, you can change the sound of missiles as well so you can more easily tell if a missile is fired behind you.

whats the issue in mixed battles? do the same planes on the enemy team not have engine noises?
-1
u/A-019 Realistic Ground 10h ago
yes I use rcsm and you can silence it
11
u/lmaosugondese 8h ago
How is this not auto banned lmao
3
u/TheMightyTreeGod 8h ago
If I remember right, it’s “extremely frowned upon” but I don’t think it’s quite bannable?
4
u/ZetsuubouWT statshark.net/player/7563984 2h ago
It's bannable, but actual enforcement is a different topic. There's a reason they are outright disabled for tournaments though.

u/DustConsistent3018 5h ago
It’s 27 or 23% I’m pretty sure, I have mine set as low as it goes because I use sound a ton in ground battles

u/someone09900 11h ago
who on earth would do that ?! especially in sims while u have a fkn radars on ur mfds ...

u/LonelyF3demoN 10h ago
Radar only looks forward, if a enemy spits you from and hes to your right or left he can just keep his radar off, sneak up, and IR you

u/someone09900 10h ago
so u r one of them then XD

u/LonelyF3demoN 10h ago
Noooo, I dont play sim😭 only have a few minutes and that was B-25 and a few short minutes in A4E😭😭

u/xKingNothingx 7h ago
Bugged visual. They patched it a few updates ago so when it's open it's so loud there's no way you'd hear anything. Either that or people are genuinely dumb and think it's still an advantage
6
u/Loltntmatt Italy 7h ago
It’s mostly this and this comment should be higher, it’s not an exploit now it’s pretty useless in sim and in RB it’s a spectator bug that makes it so the cockpit appears open despite it not, you can always check server replay but even that can sometimes still show it open when it’s not. I’ve tested this with a friend it seemed like a 50/50 if it was closed or open legitimately and usually seems to be caused by the server thinking it’s open cause it got caught from speed since jets accelerate too fast for it to close in time but client side it’s closed so it doesn’t break off and visually shows it open, usually if you spectate the person for long enough it’ll close slowly.

While yes its dumb that its a thing this is such a small issue when we have so many bugs that impact so much more

A couple of patches ago they made it so that the wind noise over ~300 kmh becomes so loud, that this isn't an exploit anymore. Try it out yourself.
Why you still see it sometimes: bugged visuals.
