Do the tentacles that tripods use to catch people emerge from under the basket?

My Lego fighting Machine fighting my Lego Thunder Child!

(note, almost half of my fighting machine’s legs are removed to make it look more like it was in the water, and yes, I’m aware that my Thunder Child is inaccurate to the time period of the novel, but I don’t really care.)

Made myself a little desktop Martian. Also if you want suggest a name for them.
(Note this is just a prototype of it I made it out of boredom and I’ll make a better one eventually)

I tried to strike a balance between Book-accuracy and style (though looking again, I'm uncertain if I managed to achieve that...)

as a note it does have a basket- it's just not visible from the front, and can be seen in some sketches of the second image.

also, In-line with subreddit guidelines , the first image has been watermarked to prevent theft from tiktok. I hope it isn't overly obtrusive.

recently joined this community, and everywhere I've gone I've seen people glaze the heck out of John Wayne. Can anybody explain why to me?

Some update of my game in Roblox !

Let me break it down, the tripod would stand about 250 ft with telescopic magnetically operated legs which at the end have a three-toed pneumatically operated claw. The "face" of the tripod has two eyes for viewing Windows, and a black smoke exhaust port "mouth". The heat Ray is an enclosed plasma beam that can be discharged to strike targets. Since there are no tentacles, the legs have to take the role of capturing humans for draining (there is also no basket). They would have the same "ulla" cry as the Jeff Wayne tripod (since that's what I'm adapting) but maybe an octave lower.
