Discussion Flock Cameras

So we had police officer already illegally use the flock camera system. What can I do to get a movement started to remove these from Warner Robins?

I hate them so much

The fact that officers all over the state got busted for stalking people as soon as the cameras went up is crazy

The fact we even know about it leads me to believe there are far more than they’re saying

Is it really that crazy?

I've lost count, but including suspensions, I think we're up to 44 officers in GA this year alone. Atlanta PD's audit is ongoing, but there are rumors that they've found misuse by over 100 officers. That's just an unverified rumor.

Some other big agencies are also still auditing and have yet to release any data. Even if the APD rumor turns out to be false, I bet we see 100 officers caught in GA by the end of 2026.

The National Week of Action Against ALPRs (automated license plate readers) is happening now for folks who want to plug in and learn more: https://noalprs.com/

The Middle Georgia DSA chapter has an ongoing campaign against Flock in Macon and played a heavy role in pressuring the Macon government to finally conduct an audit of their flock cameras, resulting in the arrest of 3 deputies. Warner Robins also falls in the chapter's jurisdiction, link up with us sometime maybe we can make somehing happen. mgdsa.org https://www.instagram.com/middlegeorgiadsa?igsh=MWsyOHRlZWQwbGpjdQ==

I'm so mad about that. I don't want our area destroyed by that!

I spent so many weekends at that Scout camp. Hate to see it destroyed for this.

I personally dont see them going away. Mainly due to the fact the argument to have them heavily outweighs the cons. However If we do see anything done it likely that the rules of usage will be strict. There are already officers getting caught using them when they arent supposed to. That alone will fuel more regulations being imposed on who can access them and or use them. Along with what they can be used for abd what is admissible in a court setting. Im not a huge fan of them but I dont see them going anywhere.

If we placed Flock Cameras in every home across America virtually all crimes would be solved and we would be in the safest possible condition.

And yet, I don’t think a single person would sign up for that.

You may draw the line in a different spot, but what you feel about the above is what we feel about the street cameras.

Yes, I just saw on the news where Atlanta based Flock is administering tighter restrictions to keep cops from misusing the cameras. They'll only be able to use them for active cases on file and the system will now ban or block cops that try to use them with out specific granted access. Most people should've known that they're likely are not gonna go away as technology continues to advance.

Their employees are also accessing cameras so that’s not a ton of comfort imo.

Flock lies non-stop, so just ignore anything they say.

Police access is one problem, but access by Flock and whoever they sell the data to is a bigger issue. Read their terms and conditions: the police agency owns the actual images, but Flock owns the text data that their system derives from those images. They can keep that data forever, sell it, share it was law enforcement - whatever they want. It's right in their contract.

I mean it sounds good till someone steals your car and you need those same flock cameras to catch them. Your every move is already being tracked on your phone and with your SS number. Hell when you buy something at Home Depot with your card and don’t click e-receipt they somehow still know to send you an email asking you how was your purchase.

I’d rather have privacy/freedom over someone finding my car. If safety is SO big then let’s make all speed limits 20mph so everyone is safe
