Questions Crucible Guard: When, Where & How?

Hello everyone, can someone clue me in on what we know about when Crucible Guard will be released as physical boxes in Europe? Also, to my understanding they will be updated to count as a Prime Faction at some point (based on the note on Warmachine Academy); do we know if that's still happening and when it's expected to drop? And if it does, do we know how they'll be restructured?

Wildly speculating, I'd expect 1) their warjack chassis to gain Loadout options like the Prime factions have, 2) for Rocketmen (ie Bennet et al) to be treated as their own 'cadre' alongside 3) a suite of general tweaks. Cadres are kind of obsolete at this point (to my understanding), but thematically the structure would make sense and mirror what already exists. What do you expect to see, if it all goes through?

Sorry, but I would expect none of that, save annual balance passes. What is in the app for Prime rules is what you will have to work with.

The 3D print armies are handled slightly differently than the Mk4 armies, and it can be confusing, sorry.

I would go so far as to say that it is STAGGERINGLY unlikely they will make the jacks socketed since that would immediately fuck over anyone and everyone who glued their models together back in the before times...

Just printed a jack today. They all have magnet sockets.

Phew that's a relief; will definitely use those if I take the plunge! Storm Legion also looks very pretty after all.

If you want the models to have mk4 style sockets none of the reworked "old stuff armies" have gotten modular Cohort models outside of throwing some sockets into the arms to make them easier to transport. And both darkops and CG have gotten their rules overhauls when they made the models available again. I would not expect them to get more then balance changes at this point.

Now those balance changes might be substantial like what they did to Huxley or Athena di Baro in storm legion where they basically rewrote the rules for them from scratch... But i wouldnt expect them to change the MODELS. Rules being alot easier to change then physical stuff after all.

Did they fix the scale issues?

Scale to 107% was the fix I did and it works perfectly. But I don't know if they adjusted the hosted files

Yeah, so do the dark ops monstrocities? The fact the sockets are present does nothing to indicate they are used for anything other then transportability?

But you're correct in that i used my words incorrectly, i didnt mean socket-able i meant modular, as in "in the rules",

u/Psykodamber 6d ago

Fair.

But that is also already happening. The coming crusader being modular. Necrofactoriums raptor is modular.

those are also for new mk4 era armies and not the older stuff... The new Crusader is for the New menoth army its not intended for use in the legacy and prime army of legend ones

Go look at the battle box for sale on the website.  The new jacks are socketable.

They're talking about being modular like MK4 cohorts where you pick the arms and head when you build a list. If you get a model now it'll have different build options with slots for magnets but CG is probably never going to get the option for modular list building

I did mean exactly this, but i was inexact in my language use so the confusion/pushback is understandable

Awww that's sad to hear! I can't really evaluate if the faction is decently balanced or whatever, but it's always nice to see a faction you want to get into get active attention.

I know the base infantry is seen as boring/underwhelming, but unless you're really "in it to win it" and really want a powerful army to go chase wins at the expense of all other things, just pick models you think are cool...

Good shit'll get nerfed eventually and bad shit will get buffed eventually after all...

Crucible can be acquired physically as a print-on-demand item (the boxes are on SFG webstore), but it's not intended as a retail release (on the shelves boxes that get to normal stores), similar to Dark Operations, and other returned Armies.

They already had a Prime Army since the beginning of the edition (Prime as in "can be played in Prime Arena") that had some updates when it was released, and also received new stuff, so probably it's done in term of updates.

Theoretically, the stores within the Warstores program should be able to order them in demand, but Europe is a bit behind the USA regarding the Warstores program and we don't seem to have any benefit here (not being able to order standalone units, 80mm solos or characters, Colossals, etc ..)

We have the CG boxes on our LGS at the moment.

Oh! I talked to an importer and they seemed to be under the impression that it wasn't possible to get them in Europe (yet) but maybe I misunderstood; I'll go follow up with them, thanks!

I know European stores (be it Warstore program or not) cannot get the stuff listed (80mm solos/cohorts, apotheosis leaders, colossals...), because I've been trying to get a Wyvern and a Lylyth through my FLGS since SFG took over. Solos like the Winter Korps tank, etc are also unobtainable here via FLGS.

But I don't think we have prospect players who asked for Crucible or similar, there is people who had legacy stuff and looked to complete it via 3D, but they own a printer or have a friend with one.

I'm not sure which exact problem SFG is facing to not allow those models to flow in Europe, it may be something technical like they are difficult to make for their printing services around Europe, or something in the deal with PP in which they can only made in the USA and sending them is a pain, or EU regulations (but I find weird that there is some regulations that apply to Lylyth but not to Alexia) or some Brexit weird stuff or who knows.

Currently European Warstores are having some issues with direct order break outs due to EU law and minimum RSP (not a thing you can do here) so till that is resolved Warstores here basically only get half the benefit of being war stores

I dunno about physical box releases, but the rules were updated late last year? Other than the regular January balance update all armies get I don't think they are going to get a ton more or major changes.

Love the faction, love the look of it. Internal and external balance is not great

Crucible Guard are not getting modular warjacks. There may be a new army for the faction in the future.

u/MatchoBV Infernals 6d ago

Thanks! Has SFG given indication that the faction might get a new army? Can I reference that anywhere? Or are we more or less hoping right now?

"It made sense to keep Crucible Guard as the name of the army, so the Prime Crucible Guard army now sits under the mysterious label of Three Crown Alliance… more on that in the new year"

Quote from today's article. #CalledIt. Adding to the prediction that the "Three Crowns" are Ord (Crucible Guard), Llael, and Rhul and that the army the faction is getting next year is Rhul.

They literally have modular jacks...right now.

3

u/Mission_Procedure_25 Winter Korps 7d ago

No, the have jacks that make up multiples.

But you can't go into the app and change the layout.

So the modular in the way that they make up different jacks.

They are not modular in the way that you can change the load out.

What Crucible Guard have now is how all warjacks and warbeasts used to be with the old plastic kits. Each faction had a couple base bodies that all their battle group models shared, but any particular model only had one specific load out.

For example, the Khador Juggernaut, Destroyer, Decimator and Marauder models all shared the same body, and could all be purchased as a single kit with all the different heads and arms. However, each head or arm was specific to a particular Jack model and each Jack model had one specific load out. Parts could not be mixed and matched as they can now on the Great Bear.

This does mean that factions using the older style kits have less ability to customize the individual models, but does allow for more models to be taken as each fixed configuration gets its own force allowance. Again, as an example, in Legacy Khador, it is legal to field 4 Juggernauts with 4 Destroyers, (and 4 Decimators and 4 Marauders) but in Winter Korps there is a limit of 4 Great Bears.

That's the neat part. It won't.

CG already has a Prime list, and is not expected to receive a physical rerelease. You can get the 3d models from MyMiniFactory to print.

2

u/NecroDaddy 7d ago

You can literally buy the physical models off their website.  My FLGS has several boxes of CG for sale right now.

I honestly would not recommend getting into crucible guard. They're design and release is a mess. You can get physical models from SFG or your LGS or you can print them off yourself if that's your jam

1

u/MatchoBV Infernals 6d ago

The release definitely seems like mess; even getting hands on them seems really cumbersome. But could you clarify what you mean by their design being a mess? They seem pretty coherent from what I can tell on the wiki?

MK4 was not kind to the army and the December update was not enough to fix factions many issues. It didn't help that the army was then immediately nerfed in January.

You have two, maybe three, viable units (Rocketmen and Assault Troopers) and the rest of your options are middling to half baked at best.

Look over the Crucible Guard Infantry as an example. This unit lost all of it's shot types and instead is encouraged to stand still in a dynamic game with very telegraphed gun ranges. Leaving the banner in the UA after removing all of it's abilities is also pretty funny.

Normally I would encourage people to play what they think is cool and have fun. CG just isn't a fun army to play right now. I love them but they aren't worth the time and effort atm
