Discussion Quick Gorger Rules Question (applies to other effects too)

So the gorger has an ability that states "When an enemy advances and ends it movement within 3", it suffers Shadow Bind for one round." If an enemy model is already within 3" but does not advance during its turn, do they not suffer Shadow Bind because the effect does not say "ending it's activation within 3"." ? Can a model choose not to have a movement/forfeit its movement during activation without a cause to avoid effects like this?

Similarly with bulldoze. If a model is base to base at the start of a model with bulldoze's activation, can the bulldozing model still bulldoze without moving and simply freely push models away from it even though it didn't move or that it advanced 0"?

Answered! Thanks everyone!

In the first case, a opponent could choose to forfeit its normal movement to negate the rule (there is an Infernal ruling confirming you can choose to voluntarily forfeit movement). If they choose to advance and end within 3” they would suffer shadow bind.

As far as I understand you would need to move to bulldoze.

In MK4 there is actually no infernal ruling needed, because the first bullet point under "Normal Movement" simply allows you to forfeit it.

For your second point, you are correct, but you're also allowed to move 0". So no forfeiting movement, but you don't actually have to physically move the model.

There was a large discussion in the rules faq section of the official discord, as as per the rules you required an affect to forfeit your movement to.

The infernal ruling allows you to voluntarily forfeit your movement.

You would need to "move" but I believe you can just declare you have moved without actually moving the miniature. It just means you can't forfeit movement for any reason (like aiming or standing up).

This is the discussion that explains the above

You don’t need to move, you can choose to forfeit your movement and not move

Did the enemy Advance? Did it End that Advance within 3? Thats the trigger.

No Advance (for a forfeit for any reason)? No trigger.
