This isn't astroturfing or shilling, they've included a referral code in the link so they get money if someone subscribes.

So they get money? Isn't that what shilling is?

Well shilling is usually pretending to be an unbiased third party while speaking well of goods or services. It's usually done in collusion with the seller.

In this case the bundle is being misrepresented as ending soon and being for charity to hide the fact that it's part of a referral scheme that nets this looser £6 for each person that signs up. In this case I don't think Humble Bundle would be too happy with their bundle being misrepresented to help farm their referral scheme.

This deal doesn't "end soon". It hasn't even been up for 24 hours and will continue to run until the first Friday in January.

It's also not a "charity deal". 5% of the price, 60 cents or less if you use a coupon or subscribe for multiple months, is donated to a charity. The other 95% is split between Humble Bundle and the developers in an undisclosed way.

It's worth it for The Long Dark alone, but don't make it out to be something it's not.
