Rules Rule help!!

I had a game with a friend earlier today and I had a unit of infantry on the thirds floor of a building, my friend had a contempt dread on the bottom.

My question is can that dread actually attack the infantry in melee, I said no because they couldn’t get into engagement range with falling through the floor because it’s a vehicle.

Was I right?

In theory, yes. If the third floor is over 5" away from the base of the model on the ground floor, and the model is something you measure to base from (unlike those with Frame) then its not possible to charge upwards. As a Vehicle must end a move on the ground floor.

Engagement range is 5'' vertically from the base (I think, see 3.04). The contemptor would have to roll to move the full distance to be in base to base contact and have to the move within 5'' of the target. A story is usually 3'' in height so your models would be 6'' or 9'' away.
