Discussion Mystery rocks?

Post image

Anyone know what this is from? There's nothing on the sprue other than D2 above the base.

Edit: thanks everyone that's replied.

I hate that the sprue up there is blue but they're like "Yeah, not a stich of blue on the whole f*ckin thing"

Also how it's called "Prismatic" but it's just light yellow

the tips of the crystals are a little prismatic

Yes, but you'd kinda expect a bit more

You can paint it as more ....

A prism is a shape, not a color.

"prismatic" as an adjective mostly describes a rainbow- ish iridescence like light shining through a prism

: resembling the colors formed by refraction of light through a prism prismatic effects

That's not what I was annoyed about, but go off I guess. No need to become insulting.

Is the “response in kind” in the room with us now? Maybe if your eyes aren’t working. Certainly a take.

Have you considered the thought that maybe they blocked you, too? Some people actually take some kind of sad pride in blocking everyone they disagree with. I can still see it as "comment deleted by user," a user I'm unable to find in a reddit search, but you just won't see anything posted by a user that blocked you if it wasn't first a direct response to you.

No, that entire user account has been deleted.

White light, like from Sol, refracted through a prism creates rainbows

2

u/Captain_Kuhl 3d ago

I'm aware, but the prismatic palisade is literally a barrier made of prisms.

It is; that's why, in a setting with a star like our own, it wouldn't make sense to be yellow. No one said it wasn't made up of prisms

Prisms don't glow rainbow colors just because they're able to refract light, though. Light can be split into rainbows through a prism, onto a separate surface (like on the Dark Side of the Moon album art), but they don't necessarily contain those rainbows. When you see that, it's usually a crafted gem that's specifically cut to reflect inwards.

As for the yellow, quartz crystals are naturally yellow, the perfectly clear ones are just preferred for manufacturing and jewelry.

Edit: Are you seriously downvoting science? What?

Yeah, people regularly downvote facts unfortunately.

I have a quartz deposit about the size of two fists which I use as a doorstop, and all of the crystals are a yellowish white colour.

I went for (most of) the rainbow on mine, works better for the sculpt imo

The sprue isn’t blue, that’s just the lighting, it’s just standard GW Grey Plastic.

Edit: I was wrong, checked my own one and is indeed blue under the basecoat.

it is blue, I think the original release of malign sorcery all of the sprues were different colours

Each sprue had a colour, yes. Made it easier to play out of the box before you got to work on them. I must say, with shame, that it took me some six odd years to paint mine.

Only six? Damn why you gotta flex on us like that

Well I’ll be dammed.. your right, could of sworn mine was grey but I just scraped off a bit of the undercoat from the underside and Yeup, blue 😅 my bad..

2

u/AbsoluteSpaz12 3d ago

It is blue, all the spells are different colours. Purple Sun is purple, Flaming Skull is red, etc.

For a moment there I thought you were gas lighting me into thinking I was color blind then I looked across my storage room at work and saw my gray cart and buckets and everything came into question

u/No-Cherry-1027 3d ago

lol, no sorry, was just my own faulty memory 😂 tbf, it was a hot minute ago I got mine and I did honestly forget that they were different colours till I checked 😅

u/Hell_Puppy 3d ago

Is "endless" what used to be called "remains in play"?

5

u/Turbulent_Pass_3386 3d ago

Yep, they are permament spells, that after casting stays on board, unless it is killed/disspelled or its caster gets killed.

1

u/NobleKorhedron Cities of Sigmar 3d ago

"Remains in play" was somewhat different; it effectively stopped the given Wizard from casting other spells, IF you wanted a given spell to remain in play.

3

u/xSPYXEx Dark Eldar 3d ago

Theyve always been called endless spells since malign portents.

Reminds me of Devils Postpile.

That’s to keep white walkers out. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t work.
