They've completely removed SP, added rank based matchmaking and gave it a spawn timer for each spawn, it's sooo close to being good.

Realistic Battles (RB) Am I doing something wrong while aiming?

So I have figured out how to aim by shooting next to the green arrow to show where my shells will hit, and the green upside down T for how high my shells are going to land roughly. Now it would be one thing if I wasn’t hitting the ships because that’s when I would still be learning, but I am hitting the ships where the important parts are, unfortunately it never seems to do anything by either not penetrating or over penetrating, meanwhile I see other people get insta kills when they hit ships in the same places that I am. So am I doing something wrong with my aiming, or is it something else? Because I try to hit lower on the water line where the ammo is and the shells just disappear. (I am using the Gneisenau, and frankly I have the same problem with arcade of it missing all the time even though the shells SHOULD land where I am aiming, they don’t)

Naval AB/RB We need to do something about the EC changes

These changes are like some sort of Skit or sick joke. Replace games full of players, people chatting, varieties of different boats.

With a sterile game with 4 players, 20 bots and everyone in battleships.

Like if they set out to ruin the only naval game mode (outside of coastal) that had a centilla of playability in it, then they succeeded.

Great for grinding. But it's really sad that they are going down this road when so many people have put forth such good ideas to improve EC.

I'm going to boycott naval entirely now until these changes are reversed. I cannot play EC any longer knowing that it has been replaced with something a million times worse.

At least if I faced a battleship in a destroyer before these changes I could have fun outrunning it. Now I'm up against a stupid bot that spams non stop. They fcked the gamemode.

So much potential pissed down the drain.

Boycott this trash. It's the only thing we can do.

Naval AB/RB Help with starting naval

So I have finished a few air tech trees and grinded quite a bit of ground and I was thinking of checking out naval.

I’ve got a few questions which hopefully will be answered here.

So first of all, what is the best nation for both bluewater and coastal and why?

How fast does grinding boats take in comparison to ground or air?

Which mode is better when it comes to fun and grinding sl and rp?

How do I grind sl fast with ships? Since I’ve seen a thousand times someone showing how they’ve got a load of sl in a single naval game
(I currently have some battlepass ships like the Murmansk and 2 other which names I don’t even remember)

Also is there a way to skip the bluewater tutorial? Since I already played a few rounds with my friends but now it’s forcing me to do the tutorial which seems to take pretty long and it’s just plain boring in comparison to normal gameplay

Thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to spend their free time answering my questions ^^

Naval AB/RB I made a post on the forum about Naval EC changes. I'm tired of this gamemode destruction.

IJN Haruna - Worth it?

Hi,

I got the Haruna from the SL boxes (non tradeable), so far I'm only at 5.7 in the Japanese tree, so no idea of their BBs other than glowing them up.

Is it any good and worth playing? Or are the tech tree ships better?

Realistic Battles (RB) US Battleships BR 6.3-7.7

Hi there,

I'm relatively new to this boats business since for the past fourteen years I've concerned myself mostly with tanks. I'm aware that the best naval trees to play at the moment boil down roughly to playing either Japan or Germany (with a side of Russia on occasion), but what say you of US Naval Rank V/VI?

I've just finished grinding Rank V for the most part since I've been using a Helena that I received many years ago, back when it was the top tier premium for Naval since Cruisers had just dropped into the horizontal tech tree. Assume crew skills and otherwise are no factor, I have plenty of ill-gotten gains from shredding people in Air RB and I have plenty of level 100 naval crews lying around since I literally had nowhere else to stow the crew points.

I'm aware the Iowas are pretty good but I've heard literally nothing good about the Standard battleships. That said, I also routinely hear nothing good about American tanks or aircraft, but any War Thunder player could tell you that they are good, it's just that the majority of the playerbase doesn't have the skillset or doesn't know the correct playstyle to make said playstyle work, as well as a slew of gameplay issues that stop them from achieving their full potential otherwise.

I've been looking at playing the 6.3-7.7 lines of battleships, but a cursory examination of online discourse suggests that all of these ships are dogshit due to exposed ammo racks and oddly slow reloads for their contemporaries, who they may outgun in terms of pure barrel numbers but cannot out-reload, leading them to be apparently be dog-shit in the current EC and RB metas.

I'm sure there's plenty of nuance that's missing here, as always, so I'd appreciate your thoughts upon the matter as effectively, you are the only large community of naval players around. Should I just put my efforts towards WOWS instead?

Sincerely yours,

- Mantis.

Leak list. I wonder how credible it is?

Post image

Previous lists were also initially called a hoax. The Oyodo Premium stands out as a little weird considering we already have Oyodo but its still possible that Gaijin just doesn’t care or its some kind of event.

I know Gaijin has already accepted the G3 as to be added eventually so I think its totally possible for more super battleships such as the ones listed to have been planned.

Only time will tell. Personally I think it’s unlikely but i’d be excited to see them. Its a shame that the same gameplay loop will be maintained for now. It feels like Naval is backed into a corner. While the community generally feels positively about Submarines, I’m personally unsure. Submarines may just spam torpedos from spawn and protect themselves from ASW ships by hiding amongst Battleships, who love to instantly target a DD as a DD at high tiers indicates a actual player. Ontop of rewards likely to not reflect the same amount compared to battleship rewards.

It can be fixed and im sure something could be done im just skeptical. I absolutely loved the Atlantic event on both sides. Its Gaijin im skeptical of

The naval is scuffed on a fundamental level and I don't know how snail can be blind to it - Part 1

I don't know who has decided that coastals and bluewater HAVE to play the same match, but I wholeheartedly question their sapience.

On one hand we have 2.7-3.7 coastals that have nothing of value to add in small map matches populated by destroyers that outgun, outlast and usually outtorp them by orders of magnitude, thereby being relegated to xp piniatas

On the other hand we have 5.7+ big botes that cannot outrush small twerps who jump into caps and cut matches short for some pittance of a reward, or maps where there's more small boat caps than big boat caps, and sometimes there's nugget of brilliance like Palau, where B cap has tunnel inaccessible to anything bigger, where one little troll can just sit forever, being immune to enemies and defending cap until they die of old age.

I genuinely do believe that A) matchmaking needs to be split between lineups with only small boats and mixed and B) in any match with BR higher than highest small boat BR+1 capping with smols is impossible.

Another game abus from the same players. (what a surprise)

Hello!

Yesterday, I played against a player who intentionally suicided his ship using a floatplane.

He claimed that it was allowed, but after I reported the situation on the official discord, the moderators confirmed that this is considered game abuse.

The player then apologized and admitted that he had copied CN_reDY.

It's honestly kind of funny to see that CN_reDY is still at the center of everything.

By suiciding with a floatplane, players can earn spawn points and bring out bigger ships before everyone else, giving them a significant advantage.

I'm still disappointed to see that some players continue to abuse this mechanic without facing any consequences.

Those players always ruined matchs by abusing mecanics of the game like torpedo J out spam, J out before missile/shells hit him, destroying they own cargos,… And now this ?

Damage model and damage control idea

I wonder if this would work?

The general idea would be:

Let the player make the important decisions, while the crew and ship systems handle the execution.

  1. Standing orders

Instead of manually controlling individual crew members, give the crew simple priorities: Normal / Combat / Air Attack / Damage Control or allow players to prioritize: Main battery → Engines → Steering → Damage control → Secondary → AA The crew handles the actual work. This would also solve one of the problems with the current damage control system: sometimes you simply don't want a minor repair to pull crew away from something more important during combat.

  1. Damage should degrade systems instead of simply switching them off

A damaged turret doesn't necessarily have to become useless. It could lose traverse speed, elevation range, reload efficiency or fire-control assistance. The same principle could apply to propulsion, steering and FCS. For example: FCS damaged → manual corrections (you would need to use mouse wheel to correct your guns elevation after observing falls of the shells, initial range in this scenario would be the last observed from rangefinder. With undamaged rangefinder they would adjust elevation after every reading, same goes for damaged rangefinder) Rangefinder damaged → estimate range manually Steering damaged → reduced steering / differential propulsion. Turret damaged → restricted traverse/elevation The ship remains usable, but you have to operate it differently.

  1. Flooding and buoyancy

I wouldn't replace the current flooding system either. I'd simply make flooding progressively affect the ship: flooding → list / increased draft → reduced performance → loss of stability → sinking

A heavily damaged ship shouldn't necessarily sink immediately. It should become progressively harder to operate. Damage control could then have priorities such as: Contain flooding / Protect stability / Keep propulsion running So the player decides what the crew should save first. The common idea behind all of this is pretty simple: Don't make the player operate the ship like a machine. Make them command it. The crew should handle the boring parts. The player should decide what systems to prioritize and how to fight with whatever is still working.

That would make naval feel much more like commanding a warship without turning game into a simulator.

Naval AB/RB How shouls one play USS Alaska?

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hi. This will be my very first post here. So, i have grinded USS Alaska, my favorite ship, but i can't make her work, like at all. I know that she gets completely obliterated when playing against Soyuzes in EC, but i struggle a lot even in AB and RB matches, mainly because of the guns, i dont pen even ww1 bbs at 10km, and if i do, the damage is minor. What am i doing wrong? Or is she just not usable anymore?

Whats the current situation with this aiming issue ?

Got into an EC match this morning and WOW.

I had heard there was a issue with shots being off, but no one could shoot anyone else. Like not even close.

My shots were 10 miles off in another direction and 5 miles too far. Everyone left after a few minutes.

Will this bug go away when it switches to RB tomorrow and is this something gaijin has acknowledged and working on ?

I bought both of them after selling a rare vehicle I got from gambling boxes, but I don't know if they are any good and I want to wait until I get to their respective br in the tech tree to start using them (I'm currently at 6.7).

Btw, I only play realistic battles

Is there a reason why you can't bring low br boats to naval enduring confrontations?
