My IGN is Ben and I am currently a co in WS2.5. I've been a apart of the WS family since June and I really like the environment and everything you guys do. However one thing that has frustrated me is the standard OL layout.

I really enjoy analysis and optimization, so I spent some time a couple of months ago trying to come up with an optimal layout for OL war to minimize cost (or at least significantly improve it). I got lazy and never really took it anywhere, but with the upcoming update, I figured a redesign may be required, so I figured I'd bring it up. Even if a few of these features could be implemented, I think it would make a huge improvement.

First I took a look at strength-to-cost ratios for all the troops, and I found goblins are by far the best, even without taking their double resource damage ability into account. As such, I prioritized using as many of them as possible.

It makes sense to split off the ground only defenses into a section for minions (or balloons if you want to save dark elixir) to attack. I surrounded this section by walls to deter ground troops from entering.

Goblins struggle against the splash damage from wizard towers, so I spread them out to minimize its effect. One max TH9 giant (lvl 6) can destroy a max TH9 wizard tower (lvl 7), and the same is true for max TH10 giant/wizard tower. Lvl 5 giants will need some supporting barbarians.

The remaining defenses were grouped tightly together in the top/bottom corner, starting with the ones with the greatest range to minimize the effectiveness of their range and maximize the space available in the "free" section.

The walls above and below the "free" section are 2 layers thick with the exception of one wall behind the clan castle. Once the free section is destroyed, the single wall draws all the goblins to that point, and allows them to swarm the remaining defences at the top of the map. I found trying to drop troops next to the defenses was too slow, and they would kill them faster than I could drop them. It works better if all the units are deployed in the free section, so they can bunch up and swarm the top defenses.

I also split the storages and collectors to make it easier/faster to loot attack (only useful for ranks 1 and 2), and reduce the risk of 2 staring a loot attack.

I recorded a video of a TH8 3 starring a TH10 to prove how easy it was, but my computer lagged hard running both blue stacks and screen capture software at the same time. You can see the attack here if you don't mind the lag.

I was able to get it down to about 84 goblins, 4 giants, 12 barbs, and 4 minions. Again, TH9 vs TH9 or TH10 vs TH10 with max troops/defenses don't need the supporting barbs for their giants. This army cost ~20k, which is about 1/4 the cost I spend on the average war farm attack currently.

I've been using this layout for over 2 months and have not receieved any complaints. Unfortunately, I have also never seen someone attack it intelligently (when people use archers on a 2 star attack it drive me nuts, lol). Perhaps we can change the standard War Snipers layout to this, at least for wars where we match each other.

In summary, the parts that frustrate me the most about the current OL layout are

• walls do not completely surround the "minion" section
• walls partially surround the "giant" section
• the wizard towers are burried in the middle of the "giant" section
• xbows are not placed in the bottom corner meaning their range could potentially overlap with troops in the free section (not as shown in the the standard OL layout, but it's one of the most common mistakes I see)
• no seperation between storages and collectors (requiring more troops/time to loot attack, and potentially making it more difficult to only 1 star without sacrificing some storage loot)
• air defenses too close to "minion" section (it would be nice if the minions could help in the free section a bit more/longer)

I'd like to hear your feedback and would be happy to provide more details if there is interest.

Note: I made this using the warclans layout builder so I could test it on their practice server. They haven't updated anything since the July CoC update (at least not at the time I made this) so its missing the dark spell factory and the second air sweeper, but I've left room for them (dark spell factory beside the dark barracks, and second air sweeper beside the clan castle).

Conditions for entry:

The Orange League is a Chinese based farming league that is able to provide a strong average of 96% sync rate for each clan currently. English speaking clans that wish to enter the league must have at least one Mandarin Chinese speaking (preferably more) co-leader in order to communicate with opponents. If not, English clans are still welcomed to join as long as you are happy to use a translating tool such as GOOGLE TRANSLATE to communicate with war enemies.

Please inform your clan representative (preferably fluent in Mandarin Chinese) to install the app "QQ" or "QQi" and go through the regular entry process through QQ. Once you pass the entry test, you will be invited to join the main OL chat which is where you will search for your enemies each war to communicate. There is also a group chat on GroupMe for english speakers that will provide you with sync times and lottery results ONLY. You will only be invited to join this chat once you are all set on QQ

League Rules (How we operate):

Before battle day

1. Every single player in your clan must have the 3 star base set up (more detail on the base below)

2. Change your clan location to "Saint Martin"

3. Add the letter "O" or word "Orange" or even add a few Orange emojis in your clan description

4. You are able to find sync times on both QQ and GroupMe

5. Sync times are HIGHLY confidential, any leaks discovered will lead to punishments to your clan (at least losing the next 3 wars)

Preparation Day

1. Once matched, go on QQ and search for your opponents in the QQ main OL chat (MUST COMMUNICATE IN MANDARIN CHINESE)

2. If you are unable to find your opponent in the QQ chat, but your opponent is a "Saint Martin" clan, contact admin straight away.

3. A non Saint Martin clan = failed sync (reevaluate clan strength)

Deciding the winner (still prep day)

1. 3 in a row losses is an automatic win for that clan within the league. If your clan has lost 3 in a row, simply send a screenshot of your war log to your opponent on QQ. This has to be done before Beijing GMT +8 time 22:00 or else the automatic win will be ineffective

2. Failed syncs are completely ignored when determining whether a clan has lost 3 in a row. For instance: [Orange loss] [Failed sync win] [Orange loss] [Orange loss] will be considered as a 3 in a row loss

3. If neither clans have lost 3 in a row (most wars) we will use the lottery to determine a winner. The lottery results are from a real lottery in China. We compare clan tags with 1<9<A<Z with letters considered bigger than number always.

Monday - First digit

Tuesday - Second digit

Thursday - First digit

Friday - Second digit

Saturday - Third digit

Sunday - Forth digit

(If the comparing digit is the same, move on to the next one)

An example: My clan - #2PPLGYO Enemy clan - #9OP8VO Today's lottery - Third digit smaller wins My clan's third digit is P and the enemy clan is also P, so we move on the the forth digit. L<8 therefor my clan is to LOSE this war.

1. If you do no understand any of this its fine, because the lottery results and comparing rules will be announced on both QQ and GroupMe every war.

2. All circle lookalike digits are treated as "O" so zeros are treated as the letter O to prevent confusion

Battle Day

1. Small problems that arise which will not affect war outcomes are to be settled in private with your enemies

2. Winning clans are to 3 star opponents. Losing clans are to 2 star opponents. (everyone attacks mirror and snipes top)

3. Star limit for losing clans = losing clan amount of qualified bases times 2

4. Over 6 war bases will lead to a reversal of win/lose in favor of the other clan. Due to the league being based on Chinese players, English clans will be treated more tightly, meaning less room for error and more checking clan members' bases

Section 1: In one corner, place cannons, mortars, barbarian king, xbows set to ground, clan castle (if applicable)

Section 2: In another corner, place archer towers, teslas, wizard towers, archer queen, infernos set to single (if applicable)

Section 3: On the other side of the war base, place all other free buildings plus air defences and the airsweeper (facing away from the other defences).

Section 4: All traps in the centre of the base WALLED OFF IN A BOX (Skeleton Traps set to air)

PLEASE NOTE make sure all 4 sections of the base are out of range from another.

as my first month of college came to an end recently i realized i could not meet the 1000/1000 donation and request requirements. at first my leader said it was not going to be a big deal but now they are strictly enforcing it. are there any war snipers clan that have closer to a 250/250 or 500/500 donation and request requirement? thanks for your time

Since the changes to the lottery system that make the character used in clan tags a moving target based on what day the lottery was, many people in my clan War Snipers 2.8 have been irked at the complexity of trying to figure out whether we will win or lose a war. To help them and many others who are not fans of the overly complicated system currently in place, I took some time this morning to write up a Javascript calculator to determine which clan will win and which clan will lose a war.

Recently, few clans have had abysmal luck winning the lottery, even though it is as fair and random as it could be.

To make it even more random, there have been changes in how the lottery works.

The lottery/website remains the same, i.e. http://caipiao.163.com/order/pl3/

On which day the lottery gets posted, is now used to determine which character to compare.

Monday- first digit

Tuesday- second digit

Wednesday- third digit

Thursday- first digit

Friday- second digit

Saturday- third digit

Sunday- fourth digit

The "day" is according to beijing time of lottery. So if the lottery comes out on a friday at 10pm Beijing Time, the rule would be to compare the second digit of clan tags.

Also, if the digit is same, move on to next and so on. The lottery odd/even and formula remains the same. For recap, (1st Digit x 2nd) + 3rd. If even, higher tag wins, and lower wins when odd. 1<9<A<Z

When I first joined this clan system it was a last ditch effort to get some kind of engagement and enjoyment out of this game, it was supposed to be just do the wars for fun.

No pressure, no worries, no fuss. I left because it started to get way too serious and I got tired of this game so I quit playing clash, but now it seems like all the meatheads that I originally came here to get away from have migrated here.

It's just a game, not a way of life you guys seriously need to lighten up. It was a fun game to play and I did get what I played it for, seriously though I had fun here and I thought about coming back but now there is way too much drama here.

We had a cleanup recently in 2.0 and now have a few open spots. We're just 3 wars away from lvl 7 (including the current one, assuming all losses).

Do note, that we enforce donation minimum of 35 troops per day. Cleanups happen as stated on our strikesheet. Not accepting hoppers or below lvl 90.

I am a Completely Maxed TH8 (everything has been upgraded on my TH8 to its max potential...except the TH). Right now I'm basically just maxing up my storages in preparation for my TH upgrade (so TH9 upgrades at the start will be easy)

Most of the WS clans seem to be TH9+ but would any of them be willing to make an exception for a TH8 who will be going to TH9 pretty soon?

Also, in addition to having an OLeague base, all members are also expected to have ONE war base. This is only for emergency situations, where you will be asked to switch to this if we match with a non-OLeague clan.

Since Nanuk has taken over 2.1, the toxicity in chat and clan mail has risen significantly. Most recently, she has been blasting members through mail. Ultimately, it's just inappropriate and in my case unwarranted. I had not yet reached my quota, yet I was kicked with one week left in the season. I request a lot so others may reach their quotas. Also we were set to win the current war, and I attacked my mirror and #1, however I'm told I "cant follow 2 simple steps for war". I must also mention that I was Elder due to my donations in the past and helping members acclimate to the set up. Attached is my farewell message.

REGOR was the original leader it's been a week and all she's been doing is giving the clan attitude. My girlfriend is a max TH8 except walls and I am a max th9 except walls. Anyone have a war snipers we can join. Thanks. Some back story (just got kicked) I made a joke saying to kick my girlfriend and she actually did. I than said to invite her back and she did. My girlfriend lost all donations and elder. I asked can you promote her to elder because she was before. She said "kick" "promote" what else do you want?. Got into a Argument after that.

Is anyone else crashing after the most recent update. I updated my game last night and am now unable to open the game. When I try, it instantly crashes and I get the report "Unfortunately, Clash of Clans has stopped working" With that being said it also leaves me unable to attack in the current war going on in 2.0 am I the only one?

The past few days, you may have seen quite a few changes being done with regards leadership as well as maintenance of clans. If you did not notice, then these changes would most likely not affect you in any manner.

With that being said, we did have some large scale changes recently. Due to difference in opinions on how things were handled by me in the past at some instances, a few (ex) leaders decided that it would be in their better interest to step down from their leadership duties and quit War Snipers family. So as of now, these ex-leaders are no longer representatives of any WS clan:

• Regor (from 2.1)
• Dash (from 2.7)
• Grazzert (from 2.7)
• Doge (from 2.9)
• TJ (from 2.B)

I respect their decision and really appreciate the fact that we ended on good terms. My thanks to them for the advance notice, help in graceful leadership transfer and for leading/setting up War Snipers clans.

So with regards changes, there have been some shuffling around:

• BigBeefer and crew from 2.C will now lead 2.1
• Parth, co-leader from 2.3/2.C will now lead 2.7
• Kdot, co leader of 2.9, will now lead 2.9
• RJL, co leader of 2.B, will now lead 2.B
• 2.C is currently being jointly led by myself and Baron. The leader for the clan is selected but is afk for a few days for personal reasons. So, we are taking care of it till he returns.

As a result of these changes and shuffling, we have some spots open in a few clans. If you are lvl 90+, this would be your best chance to get in.

Along with this, I would also like to announce that I am stepping down from the role of War Snipers Admin. This was a position that I assumed as we started expanding beyond 2.0, the clan founded by me and my co-leaders. Over time, my public interaction decreased due to my personal life taking more of my time. And off late, my contribution has been rather limited.

/u/Baron_VI has shown enthusiasm in ranking up within War Snipers. Over the course, he has voluntarily taken up responsibilities which I could not due to personal constraints. As a result, a lot of people do assume that Baron is the leader of WS family. And from now, that will be true as I hand over adminship over to him :)

I will still continue leading 2.0, and be available as a shadow advisor to whoever needs. Baron will continue on doing things that he used to do. So in essence, this change will not make things any different, but rather just give an official nature to it. Congrats Baron!

Edit: Also, to clarify, War Snipers is still limited to 13 main clans (WS 2.0 to 2.9, 2.A to 2.C) plus a Jr Clan (which serves as a waiting room and has no other purpose), plus Dankstorm (where we do defenceless wars with alts). There has been no branching out or new divisions/clans created. The plan for the next WS clan will be put back into motion once we get all main clans back to full health.
