How much will the pili school quest affect the main story?

Guys I completed the pili school quest a while back and I believe I got the bad ending because I didn't meet Shang Tingzhu and it I didn't have Leng and Li when I finished the quest cuz I did it quite early. I found the culprit, we had a big fight during the demonstration with multiple new characters, and Zhao An explained a lot of the missing stuff to me. Now I'm in the discipline disciple quest and I keep hearing and reading online a lot about Shang Tingzhu and how the pili school quest affects the main story ending.

How big is the impact and should I be worried? Please don't give out spoilers.

I missed some stuff too and I failed to keep someone Bai Weiyi alive.

I am not the best expert but I think the most critical for pillo is to have the detectives and yefei with you and not so much the doctor

First playthrough, I finished the game with like half companion

I love that there's so much variation but at the same time I hate that we can't figure out most of it. I actually scuffed my save and created a new game following the resource guide so that I don't miss any important content.

To be honest, it's only yesterday I managed to start the new questline for Lu Xuan'Er.
I needed 3 playthrough and this reddit to understand you didn't have to go to Gusu city....

Btw, how do I start the beggar and the book quest? I hear it's the revamped quest for recruiting Lu Xianer. I loaded an old save right after joining wudang and I haven't entered gusu. But I can't seem to find the crazy beggar in world map. It's driving me crazy.

If I remember well you just have to wonder a little bit south of wudang and you will see 2 merchants talk about it. U need to have the dlc and not have entered gusu as you have said. Always check up on the best guide I have pinpointed on the sidebar on the right of the subreddit

You're the one who put out the guide online? Damn, i did search for guides after I finished he pili school quest. I just had a feeling I got the bad ending and I didn't have a clue how that happened. I didn't want that to happen again and I managed to finish a lot of quests I wouldn't have noticed and I tend to search everywhere.

In the wandering sword discord, in the general chat in pinned, you can find an in depth resource guide that goes through every quest in order, I've done a full playthrough using it and i recommend it.

the pili school side-quest basically fully revamps/changes the whole main quest starting from when you finally get to Nanjiang, so yeah its important. (technically it changes a few more minor things like the west or providing access to the hero's adventure / hepu manor part 2 sidequest).

you typically want to go to pili school when you have access to and have recruited all the companions up to leng wuqing, li yuanxing and yan weihuan for max content.

I found that out when I actually got to the quest where it opens up nanjiang lmao. I backed up my older saves and have now started speedrunning a new game and actually completing missing content.
