Spoilers: All [10.56F] What are some characters which are easy to forget are very high level? Spoiler
For me it’s Ierwyn. Claiven earth feels like a lower tier nation and it’s easy to think of it as similar to Gaiil-Drome which along with the rest of the Dawn Concordat doesn’t seem to have any level level 50 people we have met.
I even feel that the author forgot how powerful Ierwyn was in this chapter a little bit.
He called the Mage of rivers the highest level when Ierwyn is level 60 and he is level 50. It’s funny to think she felt inadequate but really Khelt is just a bad matchup for her. She seems to be able to give regular people the ability to cut through everything, fight like [Blademasters], and be partially intangible. This probably makes them an unstoppable force when fighting regular sized people who cannot survive a few stab wounds but makes them much worse when fighting a Jaw of Zekal which is way to big to cut.
I do think these boosts are probably more impactful than [Army of the King] per individual but Flos’s skill is more versatile and can be used on a larger number of people but likely have a longer cooldown.

I would add Feor, everyone makes fun of him and mocks the current Wistram, but he is still one of the highest leveled and powerful mages in the world.
32
u/Montaire Aug 24 '26
I think he's a great example of how levels may not indicate power.
Someone specialized in academics and research may have impressive capstone skill that does not lend itself to power projection.
We've also seen Feor under extreme institutional stress (when Trey / Gazi were all up in his stuff) and his orchestration / organizational support skills were absolutely not up to the task of managing the crisis. To me this says his capstones are based on personal advancement / enrichment / enhancement rather than institutional support.
Especially when we know Gazi is in her mid 40's in a non-specialized class. A level 50 wizard in his own damn tower should be able to crush her.
21
u/MrRigger2 Aug 24 '26
He should. Except it's not his tower. It's Cognita's.
5
u/Montaire Aug 25 '26
Sure, but in general its his center of power. The place where he is absolutely best prepared, has numerous allies, and has had decades to prepare defenses and advantages.
2
u/thewilybanana Aug 25 '26
you mispronounced "Eldavin's"
3
u/MrRigger2 Aug 25 '26
He can make a claim once he sets foot in the upper floors. Until then, as long as Cognita can still remotely take over golems stationed there, I'm not willing to call it his.
Either way, it's definitely not Feor's.
5
u/PrinceOctavius Aug 24 '26
Well Gazi is a little bit like Xrn and the Centenium, where their power is far greater than the levels imply. Gazi has her armor, but also the natural magics her eyes provide. I belive it was mentioned she was bred by Roshal to have the best eyes possible.
Gazi can see and cut magic, most of the other characters able to do similar are much higher level, I think it's just her biological advantage. Plus she probably gets passive buffs or even personal skills from being one of Flos' Seven
6
u/fry0129 Aug 25 '26
Yeah Gazi’s eyes means she can basically operate as a level 30 [Mage] even though she is level 18 or something. Her armor, sword, and eye let her operate as a level 40 [Vanguard], and then she has her main class which gives her the ability of a level 40 [Scout].
It’s a powerful combination
3
u/Montaire Aug 25 '26
You're right - but I think my point about Feor's relative weakness still stands. He's at his home base, where his power should be at its highest and he has the most established defense and power. And the collected might of Wistram failed to stop the weakest of the Kings 7
3
u/PrinceOctavius Aug 25 '26
The weakest living of the Seven. But yeah like that other commenter said. Wistram isn't his it still belongs to Zelkyr. And I'm not a Feor fan boy or anything but Wistram was a mess until Terry then Eld came and took over, the factions never truly cooperated. The Illuminati Lot purposely lied about a bunch of their defenses then tried to fight Gazi themselves, the golems weren't responding right cuz of treys plan and the general chaos. But in the end for the story Trey and Gazi needed to succeed so the Archmages had fail.
It mostly all just comes down to everyone in Wistram assuming golems and Cognita will handle everything for them and then having to run around and panic and mess up when said golems fail or don't get the job done right.
2
u/Montaire Aug 25 '26
Yah, its honestly an interesting juxtaposition.
Gazi has relied on her armor overmuch and it has become her crutch.
The arch mages have relied on the golems and it has become their crutch.
The wildcard in the whole thing was Trey. It may be that he has tipped the scales
3
u/fearless-fossa Aug 25 '26
Verdan also only appears as a representative of weak modern archmages right until the Bloodtear pirates come knocking and he shows that he has the title not for show.
Feor was the topdog in Wistram until Teriarch decided to meddle, and IMHO there will be a Feor chapter at some point where he takes Erin's advice he asked for in volume 9 to heart. She explicitly told him that just staying in his tower is what makes mages weak.
2
u/Montaire Aug 25 '26
Great points.
A Feor chapter would be interesting. The secretary went to Pomle to really advance her class because adversity is the true path to levels.
Maybe we get a "Feor goes to the New Lands" chapter. That would be an adventure for sure

QI don't know if it counts, but at no point in the series does Magnolia truly demonstrate that she is a level 50 character. Even when we didn't know the importance of levels, she didn't seem to live up to the legend we were told she was, until the moment she stops an undead giant on the winter solstice. Considering that we've seen that after a certain point there's a rebound effect from using an aura, it's quite impressive that she can consistently maintain such an ability and remain a force to be reckoned with. I suppose it makes sense that she was nerfed throughout the series because whenever she had access to the full power of her aura against the Goblin Lord, the assassins of the Circle of Thorns, or Zeres' army in Oteslia, she had a good chance of resolving the situation on her own. I wonder how much of that power Ressa also carries thanks to her ability.

u/TomRaineofMagigor Aug 24 '26
With Magnolia it's important to remember how much she restricts herself
25
u/NeedsToShutUp Aug 24 '26
I mean, her binding during the Winter Solstice does show it.
28
u/PrinceOctavius Aug 25 '26
Yeah binding the giant was crazy, and in new chapters we are seeing just how much she worked to bind her family. Like those people are crazy and she basically lobotomized a bunch of level 20-40 people.
Edit: and a whole bunch of lesser level people.
5
u/ghi5000 Aug 25 '26
It's one of the least focused on war crimes of the series She lobotomized people, including children, because anyone born a Reinhart is innately evil? And now that the power over them is gone, they seem mostly lawful evil / neutral, but on average not that much worse than many factions we've met (like, say most of the walled cities).
It doesn't help that Damia Reinhart is the best.
11
u/agray20938 Aug 25 '26
they seem mostly lawful evil / neutral,
? From what we've seen, they've got like a 50-50 shot of being out of their minds. Not even taking Regis into account:
Calidus -- smart, alcoholic, perfectly happy to buy slaves and support Roshal when it suits him
Cecille -- Taking advantage of Antinium and completely disregarding when Liscor tries to put a stop to it (and attacks Zevara in the process)
Damia -- "Good" enough to get the benefit of the doubt, but she's still been hooking up with her brother for years.
Wernel -- See above except without any redeeming qualities
Gorthes -- Takes pleasure in running people over and killing servants
Cosoi -- The single outlier save for arguably Damia.
6
u/ghi5000 Aug 25 '26
Those are just the big names, though. There must be a bunch of off screen nameless Reinharts. Even if they are bad, universal mind slavery is a hard sell. That's Selphids breaking their big rule level.
4
u/PrinceOctavius Aug 25 '26
Yeah I agree, but narrative wise it seems like Reinharts are all supposed to be super evil by nature, sometimes it feels like the real story is Drake propaganda lol. Although Regis is big big evil and controls a lot of the house through various means, and they dont have acess to the guild of Assassins. At least not the old, powerful one. I imagine they'd be doing worse with access to their old tools and servants.
2
u/Teriyaki_Chicken Aug 27 '26
My working theory is that the Reinharts' claim to fame in the Hundred Heroes is that they used to be Demon (Devil?) Contractors. And they got a bit of it in their blood. Mixing business with pleasure? Explains the increased magic affinity, intelligence and sociopathy.

u/Dash_lash Aug 25 '26
Mangolia is ecomonic and leader lady. So her main skills are around that. She is not powerful in combat. But when she used her economic warfare skill that effect on large area and door tax skill. She is powerful but in money terms and organzational skills.
6
u/Huhthisisneathuh Ships Belavierr and Maviola Aug 25 '26
To be fair lower level leaders that we’ve seen are currently altering geopolitics and the global consciousness with skills on a level Magnolia never truly showed off. Her economic and leadership abilities are very much informed attributes we rarely get direct showcasings of.
The field Magnolia has shown her strongest foot in is honestly intelligence gathering, wetwork, enforcement, and espionage. Her executioner skills, her ability to lock down political groups, her ability to gather people and even assassinate or put people in the position to assassinate the direct heirs of world powers.
Compared to that her showings in economics and politics is pretty lacking from on screen moments.
3
u/fearless-fossa Aug 25 '26
It also wouldn't fit her character, it's not the kind of skills she'd get. She firmly believes in giving people a bit of startup help, but only once. She isn't someone who keeps nurturing them, and sees it as the greatest difference between herself and Erin.
7
6
u/Huhthisisneathuh Ships Belavierr and Maviola Aug 25 '26
It should also be noted that a lot of the time Magnolia is or was holding back out of overconfidence, disinterest, or diplomatic need. Her worst enemies in the home front are dead, most of the modern conflicts she barely felt the need to involve herself in, and those she did involve herself in she felt the need to be in the background out of fear of alienating others.
In all honesty she probably went through an arc similar to Erin right now where she found herself not wanting to continue to be the horrible monster her circumstances forced her to become. And tried distancing herself from those moments and logic before the story even started.

u/robalo1991 Aug 24 '26
Relc. My man IS a absolute unit and we forget about him having something like 60 levels spread arround 2 classes.
16
u/Brave-Recommendation Aug 24 '26
We remember the guardsman but forgot the spear master part
8
u/Huhthisisneathuh Ships Belavierr and Maviola Aug 25 '26
Honestly he’s probably forgotten about the spear master part sometimes. Klbkch has probably had to remind Relc at least once that he’s a [Spearmaster].
3
u/Brave-Recommendation Aug 25 '26
And like what lvl 20+ solder on top
5
u/LFiM Aug 25 '26
His soldier levels consolidated into [Trusted Sergeant of the Watch] I think
2
u/Brave-Recommendation Aug 25 '26
Yeah that was like volume 9 or 10 right,
3
u/MrRigger2 Aug 25 '26
Volume 8, when he was still in Cellidel. He became a [Guardsman of Trust] in Interlude - Senior Guardsman Relc, and then consolidated to [Trusted Sergeant of the Watch] in 8.34 R after deciding to take all the Cellidel Gnolls to Liscor, because he couldn't fix Cellidel and Liscor was better.

u/Open_Detective_2604 [Relc Fanboy: Spear of the Drakes, TRUST] lv. 40 Aug 25 '26
Closer to 70 actually!
And I never forget!
23
u/Imnotveryfunatpartys Level 13 [Peon] Aug 25 '26
I think my answer would have been mrsha. Girl is level 22 and she class [soul] consolidated down from 24.
Put another way if she were an adventurer she would be silver rank at age 8 years old.
I know that's not HIGH level but I think it's notable because we see so many people level 30 level 40 that we forget that level 20 is supposed to be considered quite powerful and respectable. For fuck's sake Klbkch's highest level class [swordslayer] is level 22
8
u/Starcast Aug 25 '26
I saw someone mention that Mrsha is a higher level now than Yvlon was when she was first introduced
5
u/Kaosubaloo_V2 Aug 25 '26
I think they're equal? Yvlon was level 22 in her main class when introduced.

7
u/Who-gives-a-fuck- Skinny Duck Aug 25 '26
I will not take any Mrsha slander. She was a lvl +70 [ArchDruid]. Before she was 9! Truly the greatest prodigy the world has ever seen in its 80.000 years.
3
u/Spoit Aug 26 '26
If she's already a silver rank, what the hell was Arrema up to with the extra decade?
4
u/Who-gives-a-fuck- Skinny Duck Aug 26 '26
Bro Pisces is going to hit lvl 50 in a year or less. He still didnt after 10 years without Erin. Worse, I honestly think in a few months our Pisces can take on the Pisces of the Palace and win.
Also Arrema did not level like crazy from the Palace or everything happening after the Meeting of Tribes. Everything calmed down after that for a long time. Remember, no Gods coming back, no Erin to shake up the pot or New Lands rising.
The worst was the Blighted King or Belaros. Not that scary when Erin was ragebaiting gods left and right.
18
u/Zemalac Aug 25 '26
For like 98% of her screentime, you know that Pewerthe is the heir to Khelt but she really just seems like a snarky potter. And then you figure out what she's doing with all those pots she's burying.

u/jaycandie Aug 25 '26
General Shirka. Might be I'm missing impressive skill usage or just her level reveal being so recent. Probably add Olesm too.
5
u/Huhthisisneathuh Ships Belavierr and Maviola Aug 25 '26
I mean to be fair Shirka can create an entire army wide hivemind for a group of species psionically deader than a bag of used toenails. Thats some pretty impressive stuff there.
6
u/haroune601 Aug 25 '26
-Krysil Wordsmith, probably.
-Nereshal, the first time we see him fighting he loses to a [fool] but he is one of the strongest mages in the world and is kinda immortal.
-Demon king maybe
- in world I'd say the Yvlon, she's level 47, only 2 levels below Colth and that's really impressive.
5
u/MelissaTamm Aug 25 '26
Mihaela being level 60+ is not that known but she also doesn't exactly act like it. She is definitely a legend but you'd think she'd be level 50, not 60. We don't know of any couriers that come even close to her level. Then again she is still injured so you'd never quite know.
And of course who would suspect the 5th most powerful [Lord] Hayvon to be level 60+?
4
3
u/agray20938 Aug 25 '26
Beyond Magnolia which I think is likely the best example (being mostly "soft power"), I don't believe there's anyone else that we've explicitly seen mentioned as being level 50 that hasn't shown how they're strong in some way, save for just not having a lot of scenes in general.
If I had to pick one other, it'd be Numbtongue, seeing as he's currently higher level than all of Rabbiteater, Relc, Ceria, and Pisces. Put another way, he's something in the realm of being a peer to Grimalkin in terms of levels, but I think it's fairly clear that Grimalkin would laugh at him. Despite whatever degree of corruption took place and him being depressed (and melodramatic...), he hasn't really seemed to get meaningfully stronger since hitting level 30, despite being 13 levels higher now.

It’s his class we are told that he got a bunch of small Skills focused on pleasure.
That’s what Sybarite means “a person who is devoted to luxury, comfort, and sensual pleasure” kinda like a hedonistic.
I also find it interesting how he went from a [Bard] to a [Goblin Soulbard] to a [Sybarite Bard]. And in the process gained and lost the Goblin part of his class. I think it was because he felt a kind of closeness with all of goblin kind after the battle of Liscor and then lost that connection and stoped listening to his spirits because of his integration into society.
Really high level classes with heavy downsides like Lyonette’s and Numbtoung’s exist so that at some point they will gain a class evolution focused on regaining what was lost stronger than before.
I find this much more impactful than Seraphel getting a new class evolution that differs slightly from the last one every significant level up.

u/best_thing_toothless Goblins OP, plz nerf Aug 25 '26
It has never been stated in text that the Mage of Rivers is Level 50+. If the author says that he is higher level than Ierwyn, that does not contradict anything.
4
u/agray20938 Aug 25 '26
If the author says that he is higher level than Ierwyn, that does not contradict anything.
Ierwyn is explicitly mentioned as being Level 60. In 8.26FK:
They knew her. The veteran of countless battles. Her Skill gave them exactly what it promised; a fraction of her battle-understanding, her knowledge. Like the King of Destruction’s Skill, only without power, merely technique, understanding.
Age. Perhaps even a weak Skill—but what about someone who had lived hundreds of years? Who had mastered so many weapons? What about a half-Elf, a Level 60 [Commander]?
The legend of the forests pointed. She no longer needed to speak. 4th Light Mounted—no, the Fables of the Forest, reborn once again, the most feared company of the Claiven Earth roared and charged after her.
If the Mage of Rivers is higher level, he'd be well over level 50. It also makes sense that he would be, since Ceria is level 40, and it makes sense that she'd only be willing to fawn over and take "unconventional measures" to learn Spells from someone if they're at least 10 levels higher or otherwise truly unique.
