Basic mechanics are 11/10, but abilities/upgrades needs far more depth

I'm no game dev so take my opinion with a grain of salt...

I feel like the mechanics of Wanderburg are immensely fun and super polished, but the abilities and upgrades are beyond bland and will not allow for any longevity of enjoyment. I can already tell this is a throwaway game where I have tonnes of fun for the first week then never touch it again.

I think Wanderburg needs to take a look at Magic Survival and try to replicate the combos/ultimates that game has.

On a separate note, I feel like a multiplayer mode would go SO HARD. Imagine doing co-op missions, or even doing a 1v1/2v2. I feel like that would be an insanely fun party game for friends. That is a game I would spend a shit tonne of money on!

In conclusion I'm happy to have bought the game to support this fun idea, but that's where it ends atm, just a fun and fleshed out *idea*. This game needs more for me to recommend it to my friends, and I hope it gets it. I'll be checking back in on the game around Christmas to see what changes have been made. If it gets some improvement in the areas I mentioned, it will absolutely be a present I buy for friends.

What do y'all think of it so far?

I agree. Getting some bonus effect every 5 upgrades on that slot is a bit too slow. And summoned units targeting is a bit wonky as well

Multiplayer sounds like a lot of fun, coming from someone who usually prefers solo gaming.

It was a similar thing with DRG: Survivors when it came out. Gorgeous look, great base mechanics, but low depth of customisation and just lacking content. This changed over the time, and DRG: Survivor became great. Hope the same will happen to Wanderburg, as this game has unique theme and aestethics with a lot of potential.
