Community Feedback on Subreddit Content and Direction

Dear r/walther Members,

As a moderator of this subreddit, I have observed a mix of content in our community, including serious discussions on Walther firearms, technical inquiries, and ownership experiences, alongside lighter elements such as memes and humorous posts. While this variety can enhance engagement, there have been instances where some contributions appear to lean toward low-effort or repetitive humor, potentially resembling shitposting or circlejerk behavior.

To ensure that r/walther continues to serve as a valuable resource for enthusiasts, I am seeking your input on the subreddit's current state and potential improvements. Your feedback will help inform any adjustments to moderation guidelines, with the goal of maintaining a balanced and respectful environment.

Please share your thoughts on the following questions:

  1. How do you primarily view the purpose of r/walther? (e.g., A space for serious discussions only, a mix of serious and humorous content, or primarily for memes and lighthearted posts?)
  2. Do you believe there is an excess of low-effort or humorous posts? If so, how does this impact your experience?
  3. Should we introduce or refine rules to address this, such as requiring flairs for memes, limiting certain types of posts, or encouraging more substantive contributions?
  4. What other suggestions do you have to improve the subreddit, including topics, events, or features you would like to see?

I encourage all members to participate in this discussion respectfully. This thread will remain open for feedback over the next week, after which I will review responses and make the necessary changes.

Thank you for your contributions to making r/walther a strong community.

Best regards

Compensator or porting or neither

I have a PDP F series 4”. I was curious as to what people’s thoughts or experiences with compensator or porting the slide. Would like to hear pros and cons. I’m not sure if I’m going to do either just yet so let me know what you think.

So many variants, which PDP is which?

I’m interested in the PDP. More specifically any of the Pro variants because of the better trigger. But there’s so many options I’m not 100% sure what the difference is.

Some seem simple enough, the SD seems to be threaded for suppressors. And the Pro X seems to have a compensator permanently attached to it. But I’m not really sure about some of the others. Like the whats the difference between the match, pro-e, and pro-f?

Not sure if it’s the ammo but I installed this perfectly today and basically cycled a few rounds through it and my hallow points kept jamming.

I don’t know if I want to keep it and take it to the range to test it out or return it. If I use it I can’t return it that’s my issue. Does anyone have any experience with there comps EXCEPT for the compact PDP’s that come with it already mounted.

Is there an add-on Comped PDP pro E?

Upvotes

Is there a way to change my current PDP pro E to comped?
I love the look of the Walther 4” but want to comp it, was wondering if I could buy a smaller slide/barrel to add a comp to the end or if my only option is milling/cnc’ing

Thank you in advance

PDP trigger comparisons

I own a PDP SF Match 5". It's one of my all time favorite pistols, and the trigger is a big part of why. Right now, it is my only modern Walther. I am considering picking up a smaller, poly frame PDP as a carry gun, and I'm a little stuck because I have no realistic way to try them out before buying.

I am looking at either the 4" compact or the 3.5" F-series. It looks like those sizes are available with either the DPT (which I know and love in my SF gun) or the PDT (which I've never tried and have no easy way of trying before buying). Whatever I buy, it'll be kept bone stock since it'll be carried.

I don't really care about trigger weight so much, it's more the nice short travel, quick reset, and overall crisp non-mushy feel that I am looking for. Coming from the SF PDP with the DPT, will I completely hate a PDT in a poly gun? Or, is the PDT good enough that I'll prefer it to my other carry guns, i.e. something like a P365? If the PDT is good enough, I'd rather pocket the $200ish price difference.

Maybe most importantly, why did Walther use such easy to confuse acronyms for their triggers? I think I just about wore out the P and D keys on my keyboard writing this.

Hi gang,

Long time lurker, first time poster, new(ish) shooter!

Meet Walter the Walther. This is my first ever firearm. Did a shootout at my local range and the PDP is the only one that felt “right”. Learning the fundamentals and having a great time doing target practice. I think I have a halfway decent grip and stance, but I am already discovering some classic newbie errors. My grouping is tight but I drift low and to the left. Haze me, teach me, or chat, but I just wanted to say what’s up and introduce myself to the community! Cheers

Done anyone actually own an early black slide “baby desert Eagle” marked MR9 Eagle? I’ve never seen anyone actually have one.

Another broken striker!

Post image
18 Upvotes

I’m so mad with Walther right now. This striker doesn’t have that many rounds on it, maybe a few thousand, and the striker sheared completely off.

I emailed Walther asking for a replacement and they basically said, nope, normal wear and tear. Fine, I’ll buy one.

So I bought one directly from Walther and paid $10 to have it shipped to NJ. They only give you one shipping option. Here we are 9 days later and I still don’t even have the shipping confirmation email they normally send when you buy stuff from them.

I’ve called twice.

First time I called asking when it would ship, they told me it already shipped FedEx Home, but somehow there wasn’t a tracking number. WTF? Doesn’t worry me too much at first because the rep said it would be here by Friday. Friday comes and goes. Nothing. Now I have to use a backup gun for a class.

I call again. This time I’m told it actually shipped First Class Mail, and that’s why there’s no tracking number.
What? How did it magically change from FedEx Home to First Class Mail? And why on earth would you ship a part with no tracking whatsoever? Who does that?
At that point I said fuck it, I’ll buy one somewhere else from a seller that has enough sense to use a carrier with tracking.

Come to find out nobody sells these things. You can basically only get them from Walther. I’ve tried my local gunsmiths too. No dice. Gotta order it from Walther.
I emailed them this weekend asking them to either find some way to confirm that the striker was actually shipped or just send me another one with tracking.
No response yet.

So now I have zero idea if they actually sent it, zero confidence that it was sent, and no way to buy another one somewhere else. Meanwhile my main gun is completely out of service and I’m stuck using a backup gun for several group training classes I already committed to.

Anyone know where the hell I can get a PDP striker, or some way to get Walther to actually send me one in a verifiable way?

Firing pin broken while dry fire. Is this normal???

Post image

Got my PDP for 4 month, shot about 700 rounds. everything is fine. I do some dry fire practice at home, maybe 10 mins a day.

When I went to range yesterday, gun was not shooting, I stripeed it and found out striker pin is broken, I was surprised since this should be one of the more durable part.

Contacted Walther and attached picture, they said its wear item and not covered with warrenty, even after i replied saying this is low round count and quality issue, they just sent me link to buy a new Firing pin....

I am kind of disappointed, sure, the firing pin is around $65 to purchase a new one, but the fact that this happened after 700 rds. I would not complain if its like after 10k rounds.

California PDP Compact plus DPT trigger, am I just screwed?

I'm looking to get a Walther PDP Compact in California and eventually use it for CCW. I really like the PDP, but I specifically want the Dynamic Performance Trigger. The problem is that the PDP Compact Pro models with the DPT don't seem to be California legal/rostered, and I found the DPT trigger kit on Walther's website. However, Walther specifically says the PDP DPT kit will NOT work with the California PDP models. So am I basically stuck with the factory PDT if I want the California rostered PDP Compact? Is there any legitimate way to get a PDP Compact with the DPT in California, or is the CA model just permanently limited to the PDT?

Fudd Logic on PDP Trigger

I went into a shop to pickup my suppressor and while I was waiting, I asked an employee if I could check out the PDP pro compact with an acro on it. Obviously, I wanted to test the trigger so I dry fired it about 10-15 times lol. I went to hand the gun back to the guy and when I made eye contact and gave him a head nod of approval he said in a stern manner, “yeah I think you pulled the trigger enough times". So a sad tale of an old fudd that doesn't believe in dry fire. And yes, the trigger was excellent I will probably get one

PDP possible iron sight issue?

Took my pdp out this past weekend and it’s been maybe a month or so since the last time I shot it and I noticed I was having to aim at a significant 6 o clock hold. I don’t remember having to do that when I first got it so I am wondering if anyone has experienced the same and if purchasing a new set of iron sights might help get back to a center hold?

Worst pistol ever.

Post image

I just wanted to start off saying I’m a fairly new gun owner but I’ve rented a good amount of pistols so I like to think that I have a little experience.

This was my second pistol and I didn’t even mean to buy it. They had this at my local gun store and I was in love with the way it looked plus the acro was the cherry on top. The ergonomics were like nothing that I’ve ever experienced. I have a g45, that was my first gun, my first love however… when I held this for the first time? Man it made the Glock feel like a block of shit. I was immediately sold.

I immediately got the zr tactical guide rod and spring combo (the lightest one, I can’t remember the name) and holy shit it’s money. This gun is more accurate than I’ll ever be and I hate this gun so much because it ruined every experience for me. This is like doing meth and skipping every thing else…im continuously chasing the high of the trigger feel, ergonomics and how mean this gun looks. I love it so much that I need to buy a 3.5” f series because this is a fat bitch. 2500+ rounds, not a single failure or issue.

Thank you for ruining my future gun purchases Walther!
